(Kauai Firth Circuit Court Self Help Center) The Kauai Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the Garden Island community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Kauai County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

(ADAD) Plans, coordinates and implements statewide services relative to alcohol and drug abuse. Certifies substance abuse counselors and program administrators and accredits substance abuse programs. Agency does not provide direct services to the public but funds various private agencies.

(DHHL Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program, Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program) The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) and the Hawaiian Council program to help eligible kupuna on the DHHL waitlist pay rent. Renters pay up to 30% of their total household income towards rent and the program may help with the remaining cost. Up to 12 months of rent subsidies with the option to renew based on available funds.

(TVAP) Sex Trafficking Case Management services are provided to juvenile victims and their families or caregivers through the Trafficking Victim Assistance Program (TVAP). In partnership with the Susannah Wesley Community Center and Hale Kipa, Parents And Children Together provides victim centered trauma-informed comprehensive case management to survivors of sex trafficking. Services include crisis response, intake screening, and case management designed to support the victim in leaving the trafficking situation. (DVSF) The Domestic Violence Services for Families program provides counseling services for offenders, survivors and their children who have been referred by DHS programs. Services are provided primarily through group and individual counseling. Serves the Windward and Central area of Oahu. Groups area available after hours in the evening.

Transitional Apartment Program (TAP) provides housing for victims who need safety and support and are ready to go to school/work. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plan, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs and up to 24 months at the Transitional Apartments.

Residents of Maui who were affected by the August 8, 2023 wildfires and received an initial rental assistance from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may be eligible for continued rental assistance. To be eligible for continued rental assistance, you must have used your initial rental assistance as intended, and: -you must be unable to return to your pre-disaster residence because it is uninhabitable, cannot be accessed or is unavailable as a result of the wildfires -you cannot pay for housing without assistance -you are not receiving temporary housing help from any other source. -You also need to develop a long-term housing plan and be able to demonstrate progress toward one If you need continued rental assistance, you must complete an Application for Continued Temporary Housing Assistance. -Homeowners: If your FEMA-verified Real Property Loss exceeds the amount of the initial Rental Assistance awarded, the Application for Continued Temporary Housing Assistance will automatically be mailed to you after you have received the initial Rental Assistance award. -Homeowners: If the Real Property Loss does not exceed the amount of the initial Rental Assistance, you will need to call FEMA’s Helpline to request the application. -Renters: You will need to request the Continued Temporary Housing Assistance Request form by calling FEMA’s Helpline.
