-Renters who are residents of the State of Hawaii -Main applicant must be on the DHHL waitlist -62 years old or older -Applicant household income must not exceed 80% of the Area Media Income (AMI) limit -Applicant household must not be receiving Section 8 or any other type of rental subsidy -Renters must pass a HUD Housing Quality Standard rental unit inspection -All approved applicants will be required to attend individualized housing counseling with Hawaiian Community Assets

(DHHL Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program, Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program) The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) and the Hawaiian Council program to help eligible kupuna on the DHHL waitlist pay rent. Renters pay up to 30% of their total household income towards rent and the program may help with the remaining cost. Up to 12 months of rent subsidies with the option to renew based on available funds.
