(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. (SSG Fox SPGP) SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) is designed to assist service members, veterans and service-connected family members with resources through outreach, suicide prevention services, and connection to VA and community resources. A comprehensive range of services includes individualized, compassionate case management; assistance with transportation, shelter, and childcare; access to mental health and substance abuse treatment options; help with navigating healthcare choices; and housing placements services. Additionally, the SPGP offers financial literacy education, referrals for legal assistance, peer specialist support, and resource navigation.

The mission of the YWCA of O'ahu aquatics department is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where learning to swim and recreation through aquatics is the focus. One of the main tenets of the program is to encourage participants to do their best with their abilities. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement, the program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem in each person. We have pools at both Laniakea and Kokokahi, and offer a comprehensive swim program at each location. All aquatic staff members are certified Water Safety Instructors (Wintertree Software Inc.). Swim classes are offered on various days and times for your convenience. All swim classes have a low student-to-teacher ratio.

(Crime Stoppers) Provides law enforcement, criminal investigation and crime prevention. Investigates accidents and provides traffic control. Registers firearms. HPD does not handle driver's licensing or motor vehicle registration, abandoned vehicles or safety inspections (these are provided by Department of Finance, Motor Vehicle & Licensing Division).

Jointly operates a community based program which is between the Department of Health and the Department of Education which services special education students between the ages of 12 to 21. Provides individual, group, family and recreational therapy to youth and their families and a parent support group. Provides individual academic assistance.

Each year, Hawai‘i Opera Theatre produces an opera specifically designed to take “on tour” to schools all around the state. In addition to being a great experience with music and drama, this show can also be used to enhance curriculum. Themes are relevant to social studies, language arts, math and more. This production is recommended for grade level K-8 and family audiences but has also been successful with middle and high school audiences as well. Cost per performance is $325 with the recommended audience size of 200 students per performance. The production uses live music accompaniment. Raises funds for qualifying 501(c)(3) health and human service agencies on the Big Island. Currently funding 41 programs delivered by 32 agencies. Provides/posts program results for agencies receiving funding. The Maui Red Cross provides disaster response to those affected by disasters in Maui County and shares critical preparedness information to the community so that people can prepare before a disaster strikes. (HIPTRC, Hawaii Prevention Resource Center) The Hawaii Prevention and Treatment Resource Center (HIPTRC) houses the state’s most comprehensive resources on substance use prevention, treatment, and related issues available through its lending library, resource clearinghouse, and technical assistance services. Resources include books, brochures, infographics, posters, and other educational materials available for loan or for free distribution. The HIPTRC is open to the general public and provides consultation for service providers, school personnel, and others regarding access to educational resources, training, information, and available services.

(Therapeutic Crisis Homes) The Therapeutic Crisis Homes (TCH) program provides youth the opportunity to stabilize with trained TCH parents who provide them with support and guidance they need to return to their families safely. Services are offered to each youth based on his/her individual needs. Youth are provided with individual counseling and family counseling with the ultimate goal of reunification with their families within 3 to 7 days. Crisis Home Parents provide a safe environment for youth ages 5 years old - 17 years old to stabilize their emotional and physical situation in time of crisis. Services included support, guidance and individual as well as family counseling to stabilize the situation so that youth can reunite with their families within 3-7 days. Trained staff professionals also help to develop an after-care plan for families and referrals to public and private follow-up services.
