(Community-Based Mentoring Program) Case Managers at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii work with parents, guardians, therapists, counselors, schools, and youth serving organizations to identify and pair under-resourced youth from ages 6 years old and older with one-on-one mentors. Case Managers create an outcome development plan in collaboration with the parent/guardian, child and volunteer. Plans are updated yearly. Youth and their mentors meet 2-3 times per month for a few hours each outing. Outings are selected by the youth. Mentors pick-up their mentees and are responsible for transportation and other costs they incur. Some of the costs are offset by sponsored activities and discounts at partnering companies.

(Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission) The Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) was established by the Hawai'i State Legislature in 1993 to manage the Kaho'olawe Island Reserve while held in trust for a future Native Hawaiian sovereign entity. The KIRC has pledged to provide for the meaningful and safe use of Kaho'olawe for the purpose of the traditional and cultural practices of the native Hawaiian people and to undertake the restoration of the island and its waters. Its mission is to implement the vision for Kaho'olawe Island in which the kino (body) of Kaho'olawe is restored and na poe o Hawai'i (the people of Hawaii) care for the land.

(Hawaii County Third Circuit Keahuolū Courthouse Self Help Center) The Kona Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the West Hawaii community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the West Hawaii Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

(HPP) A one time, not ongoing assistance that provides security deposit, first month's rent, past due rent, utility deposit and past due utility to families with minor children, 17 years and younger. Utility assistance for renters only. Utilities assistance to prevent the household from losing their housing or prevent homelessness. Provides services to immigrants with low-income to enable them to stabilize their immigration status in the country. The program assists applicants for US Citizenship, relative petition change of status and other family immigration petitions with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Operates a 288 bed, skilled and intermediate care facility, certified by Medicare and Medicaid. Provides room and board, 24 hours nursing services, IV therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, social services, recreational services and dietary services. Other services include audiology, dental, laboratory, X-ray, and podiatry services. Specializes in short term rehabilitation services and is licensed for outpatient therapy services.

(Kupuna Program, Na Pua O Ko'olau Kupuna Program, Na Pua O Ko'olau Senior Citizens Program) Na Pua o Koolau promotes socialization, culture, exercise, and access to healthy foods through a variety of events and activities. Registered participants partake in fellowship, education and recreation through regular meal services, virtual and in person creative and fitness classes, off sit excursions, presentations, and work days.

Regulates the manufacture, importation, sale and consumption of intoxicating liquors. Oversees liquor license applications. Hears and determines all complaints regarding violations of the liquor control laws of the state, or complaints regarding violations of rules and regulations established by the Liquor Commission. Imposes fines or punishment as may be provided by law. Adopts rules and regulations which have the effect of laws in the county. Enforces the provisions of the liquor laws. Grants, renews or refuses applications for liquor licenses. After an establishment has a liquor license, Commission investigators make periodic checks at the establishment. The Red Cross provides disaster response to those affected by disasters in East Hawaii County and shares critical preparedness information to the community so that people can prepare before a disaster strikes. All disaster response and disaster training are provided at no charge. Training classes such as first aid, CPR and Lifeguarding are available for a fee. (MRTP, Maui Relief TANF Program) The Maui Relief Program is separate from the ongoing TANF cash assistance benefit and has a different application process, eligibility criteria and requirements. The Maui Relief Program is a program that provides benefits to eligible families with dependent children who were directly impacted by the wildfires. The program benefits are not intended to meet a family’s recurring needs and will not extend beyond four (4) months. Survivors are strongly encouraged to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance prior to applying for support through the Maui Relief TANF Program. DHS wants to ensure families maximize available disaster relief efforts. The Program benefits are considered “non-assistance”; therefore, is independent of the DHS’s TANF cash assistance program. The Program benefits are being established solely to address the specific crisis situation and episode of need for families who were directly affected by the wildfire disaster. The Program benefits will be issued as a disaster relief in the form of a lump-sum payment to the family or a direct payment to a vendor such as a landlord, automobile dealership, or a utility company. The Program will help families, with household incomes that do not exceed 350% of the federal poverty level: -secure and pay for short-and long-term housing -make a down payment and pay for a car payment for up to 4 months -secure and pay for utilities for up to 4 months -purchase clothing for eligible family members and school supplies for school-aged children. A family may apply for Maui Relief TANF support based on their current needs and apply later for other remaining support available to the family. This support may be provided in addition to FEMA Individual Assistance if a family has exhausted its FEMA assistance and critical needs still exists. There is no citizenship requirement. Non-federal funds may be available to assist families with dependent children who are not eligible for the federally-funded Program. Applicants will be provided ten (10) days from the date of the request to provide additional information and supporting documents. Applicants must report changes within 10 days of the change occurring. For example, if the support was for a car and the car was sold, then that change must be reported within 10 days.
