Spay and Neuter Services

(KHS) Until February 2024, a Grant-in-Aid program from the State of Hawaii keeps the cost of the spay and neuter services to $35 per animal and includes a microchip if the animal needs one. Surgery must be paid for in advance and is Non-Refundable. Funding assistance for qualified individuals may be available through our Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). Download the form from the website and email completed form. Cats must be at least two pounds, two months, and in good health. Dogs must be at least three months old. Please see your regular vet prior to scheduling surgery if you have any health concerns. Kauai Humane Society reserves the right to deny surgery to any animal. Dogs must arrive on a leash. Cats must arrive in an enclosed carrier. Small animals must arrive in an enclosed carrier.

Guide Dogs of Hawaii provides ongoing Orientation and Mobility (O and M) training, guide dog veterinary care, and nutritional support. We also assist individuals in preparing for their guide dog training to increase their chances of success.

Discounted spay and neuter service for EBT/Kokua card holders, Medicaid card holders, and current low-income housing pet owners at participating clinics. Call or visit the website for a list of clinics. Services covered: -Pre-surgery exam -Surgery anesthesia -Sterilization surgery -Removal of stitches (if needed) Additional fees and costs may be required. Application required. Once approved visit the website for participating clinics. The costs of any additional services (such as lab work) must be paid directly to the veterinarian. Veterinarians decide if animals are medically fit for surgery and require vaccinations and other services prior to surgery. Clinics may also charge additional fees for animals that are over 3 years old or over 45 pounds. Each veterinarian determines the services provided and the cost of those services. Offers humane euthanasia ill animals; investigates reports of cruelty and/or complaints on animals; dog licensing; humane education; and lost and found. Administers City and County reduced-rate Neuter Now program. Inspects pet shops, stables, etc. Accepts donations of running automobiles. Offers information to animal-related questions. Provides a list of 125 Oahu beaches that allow or restrict dogs (via the internet). Accepts birds that the public drops off for West Nile testing. Also takes public complaints about barking dogs.
