(Orchestral Music Education for Youth, HYSA) The Hawaii Youth Symphony advances critical and positive links between music study, academic achievement, and social emotional development with programs that service youth through orchestral music education, performance opportunities, and community engagement. HYS envisions a Hawaii where every young person can experience the timeless value of music, learn to play a musical instrument, or otherwise embrace a lifelong appreciation for musical learning. During the academic year, HYS operates three full-symphonic orchestras and four string orchestras, instructing students who range in ability from absolute beginners to very experienced. Education and performance are key elements of the HYS curriculum. During the summer months, HYS conducts two outreach programs: Summer Strings geared toward elementary school children; and the Pacific Music Institute (PMI), a music immersion program for middle and high school students from all islands of Hawaii, the mainland and the Asia/Pacific region. Family Support Unit does paternity establishment for the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA). Assists in establishment of paternity and child support for children born out of wedlock. Paternity and support may also be established for children born during a marriage but whose natural father is not the husband. Paternity may be established in certain circumstances when the absent parent lives out of state.

Lasagna Love is a global movement, with thousands of people all cooking and delivering meals to families in their communities. What we do is simple: feed families, spread kindness, and strengthen communities. Our mission is not only to help address the incredible rise in food insecurity among families but also to provide a simple act of love and kindness during a time full of uncertainty and stress. Lasagna Love matches neighbors who can provide a meal with a neighbor who needs a little help.

(Ka Puuwai O Na Keiki, Enhanced Healthy Start, DHS Home Visiting Services) We are a team of Home Visitors that respond to referrals from CWS for Maui County and also FSS and VCM for the island of Maui, and then offer screening for risk factors, assessments, treatment planning and service delivery to reach goals of reunification, parenting skills, support, resources and referrals. Each family referred to our team will be getting visits from a Registered Nurse to identify any developmental challenges and help with health needs. She is also a lactation specialist. They will also receive visits from a Clinical Supervisor for assistance in life with things like addiction, domestic violence and mental health. And each family will be assigned a Family Support Worker who will offer Nurturing Parenting lessons and offering support in an effort to identify and decrease risk factors as well as increasing protective factors. Ka Pu'uwai O Na Keiki never has a waitlist but is specifically referral only for parents and foster parents with a child between the ages of 0 to 3. Accepts collect calls.

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. (Hawaii Copd Coalition) Hawaii Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (HiCOPD) Coalition was formed in 2007 to provide services and improve treatment of Hawaii adults diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and its related disorders. Program serves patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and others offering free lung health information, free paper and pen screening tests, tobacco cessation information, monthly support group meetings, presentations on COPD, advocacy, training for volunteers/healthcare workers about COPD and Smoking Cessation counseling, information sharing of licensure for Hawaii’s respiratory therapists which has successfully led to licensing. (HCAP Administration) Honolulu Community Action Program, Inc. (HCAP) offers a variety of programs and services designed to help Oahu's low-income individuals and families to achieve self-reliance. Programs include Head Start, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), food assistance, employment services, after-school STEM, and individualized case management. HCAP also promotes community development and advocacy through resident advisory councils and private-public volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are encouraged to contact HCAP for opportunities to help children, youth and adults in need.
