Hawaii Public Housing Authority (HPHA), is charged with managing federal and state public housing programs, including Section 8 and senior housing. Operates public housing programs for low income families. Provides rent supplements/subsidies (Section 8). Coordinates funding for homeless programs. (SFMNP) Hawaii’s Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) offers eligible seniors $50 worth of coupons (10 coupons valued at $5 each) to obtain eligible foods without charge from participating farmers, farmers’ markets and roadside stands that have been approved to accept SFMNP coupons. Applications accepted starting April 1st. The program runs April 1st - October 31st. Maximum household income of 185% or below of the US Federal Poverty Guidelines. Pacific Whale Foundation's mission is to protect our oceans through science and advocacy. Conducts scientific research of ocean, coral reefs and marine mammals. Applies research findings to preserve natural marine habitats and animals. Provides public education, encourages community participation through lectures, school visits, natural history cruises, snorkeling trips and whale watching cruises. Offers internships for interested researchers who apply. Manages Adopt-a-Whale and Adopt-a-Spinner Dolphin program allowing interested citizens to receive information on the movements and developments of a specific whale. Operates Pacific Whale Foundation's Eco-Adventure, a for-profit subsidiary.

Parents And Children Together provides a safe, nurturing facility that offers survivors of domestic violence and their children housing for up to 12 months. Services include housing education, childcare referral, and employment counseling. Youth learn and practice Hawaiian and other arts, cultural traditions, protocols and values taught by kupuna and experienced while hiking, paddling canoe, celebrating their history and restoring the environment. Youth document their learning with digital and other media, including public art installations that honor and perpetuate our culture.

Aged to Perfection assists adults with disabilities by providing a senior day care experience to home bound, disabled elderly persons. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. Accepts clients that require 2 person wheelchair assist, clients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease and a combination of issues. Includes breakfast, lunch and snack.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

(PAS) Patient Assistance Services assists patients with completing applications for medical insurance and medication assistance with the State Med-QUEST program, Medicaid, Medicare, Sliding Scale Fee, Federal Health Insurance Marketplace, etc, assists patients in coordinating interpreting services, and provides homeless outreach and home visits to complete applications.

(Jdrf International - Hawaii Chapter) Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Southern California and Hawaii Chapter provides an outreach program - adult to adult mentorship that runs by volunteers, provides educational materials and information about diabetes, strives to alert the general public about the seriousness of diabetes, raises money to fund diabetes research, and has an advocacy program where they visit senators, etc. regarding diabetes government funding, children gets to travel to Washington DC to meet senators, etc. and talk about diabetes.

(KHS) Supplies are donated to the Gomez Galley Pet Food Bank and are available by appointment only. We try to supply a 2-gallon bag of dog food per dog or 1-gallon bag of cat food per cat. The amount is not guaranteed. You will received food only for the animals listed upon initial registration. 1 registration per household. Registration is valid for 6 months with food pick up every 2 weeks. Re-registering requires completion of the SNAP program for Kauai Humane Society. Funds and administers Food Stamp, National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Child and Adult Care Food, and Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children. Strives to improve the nutritional status of low-income children and adults. Responsible for authorizing retailers to accept food stamp benefits and coordinates educational efforts with authorized stores. Does not distribute food stamps or take applications.

Mainstage Theatre Production (volunteers, actors, production crew and administrative).

Provides consumer loans to assist Hawaii residents build credit, repair credit, pay off debt or address financial or housing emergencies. All borrowers receive individualized financial counseling. Hawaiian Community Assets does the financial counseling.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Provides protective services to abused, neglected, or financially exploited dependent adults, 18 years and older. Takes action, with client consent, to prevent further abuse from occurring. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.

Provides counseling services to juveniles who are at risk and beyond parental control. Refers client to professional agencies and therapist if needed.
