The Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) provides food to the needy on the island making food and products available to agency partner distributions sites. KIFB serves homeless, elderly, children and those experiencing temporary emergencies. KIFB also has a vocational rehabilitation program, operates Keiki Cafe and a Backpack Program as well as provides nutrition education assistance. KIFB makes referrals for food to the public (individuals needing food). Referrals are made to the 50 distribution sites throughout Kauai and specifically non-profit member agencies and churches on Kauai.

Dreams help remind children in crisis that they are special and loved. Dream Imua, formerly A Keiki’s Dream, grants child-directed dreams to children 4-16 years old in crisis of any nature, such as abuse, neglect, homelessness or a major medical issues. This child-directed approach not only offers a reprieve from suffering, but validates the child’s self-worth, sending positive messages of support and encouragement, reminding the child what it is to have hope. This important program began in 1990 and became part of Imua Family Services in 2015. Over the last 30 years, the program has filled nearly 1,500 dreams from turning little girls into princesses and little boys into superheroes. The program offers children a chance to escape their difficult lives through helicopter rides, zip-lining, music lessons, horseback riding and more. Dream Imua relies on community support and involvement to help make these dreams a reality for those in need.

For youth who have run away or experienced a crisis. The program is geared to help youth work out their problems and whenever possible keep the family unit intact. Family counseling is an important part of their stay. Parental consent is necessary unless the youth is referred by Child Protective Services. The Emergency Shelter Services Program is geared to help youth work out their problems while keeping the family unit intact with the help of regular family counseling. The length of stay typically ranges from 1 to 30 days and are offered in two settings, Group Shelters and Kamala Homes. There is one shelter for boys and one shelter for girls.

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. (Hospice Hawaii) Navian Hawaii is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of professionals and trained volunteers who meet the physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families in the comfort of their own homes as well as in other settings like its Kailua Home, nursing homes and other facilities. The non-profit organization offers Integrated Care for those with serious but treatable illnesses, and Hospice Care for those near their journey’s end, providing assistance with pain management and symptom control. Navian Hawaii provides caregiver support, grief counseling, and complementary therapies including art, aroma, massage, healing touch, and reiki. Navian Hawaii has offices on Oahu, Molokai and Lanai and accepts referrals 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Provides individual and family support, which promotes successful community living in the lifestyle of choice and which respects personal preferences, appreciates individual differences and preserves privacy and dignity to people with developmental disabilities, or acquired disabilities due to aging or head injury. Supports may include day service, personal assistance, habilitation, respite, skilled nursing or medically fragile case management.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music and seasonal activities, crafts, and excursions. School-based programs are during or after-school and conducted in collaboration with school counselors. Programs offer therapeutic peer support groups that follow the Hawaii Department of Education (HDOE) public school calendar. Kids Hurt Too Hawaii (KHTH) is expanding school-based groups upon request from schools. Requirements include a dedicated therapeutic space for conducting groups at the school. COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT SERVICES We provide a wide array of comprehensive assessments that include the following types: DUI or OVUII, SAP, First Time Offender Assessments (Act 230/44), and SAA. We work with the Division of Drivers Education, The Judiciary - Adult Client Services, the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Employers to provide needed alcohol and substance abuse assessments for individuals who are required to obtain one for various reasons.
