(SBA EIDL, EDIL) --US SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan applications are due Thursday, January 7, 2027-- The United States Small Business Administration (US SBA) provides Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EDIL) to small business, small agricultural cooperative, and most private nonprofit organizations located in a declared disaster area. Eligibility -Substantial economic injury means the business is unable to meet its financial obligations and pay its regular and necessary operating expenses -Loss of expected profits or a decline in sales is not considered substantial economic injury -EIDL provides the necessary working capital to help small businesses impacted by a disaster survive until normal operations resume -EIDL assistance is available only to small businesses when the SBA determines they are unable to obtain credit elsewhere -Businesses must meet the following criteria to qualify for economic injury: The business was directly impacted by the disaster, the business cannot cover expenses due to the disaster and/or debt payments, the business was physically located in the declared disaster area. The SBA can provide loans to help cover the costs and expenses that your business would have been able to handle if the disaster did not happen. The EIDL amount will depend on how much financial impact you have experienced and your company’s financial needs, even if you didn't suffer any property damage. A separate SBA Disaster Assistance program known as business physical disaster loans, https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/disaster-assistance/physical-damage-loans#business-physical-disaster, covers property damage. A business may qualify for both an EIDL and a physical disaster loan. The maximum combined loan amount is $2 million. (ABC) Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC) Program - an evidenced-based intervention for caregivers of infants and toddlers who have experienced early adversity. The ABC Parent-Child Attachment Specialist, known more informally as the ABC Parent Coach, is able to provide intervention for infants between 6 and 24 months of age and toddlers between 24 and 48 months. Provides shelter for persons who are homeless and who are willing to abide by house rules (including, but not limited to: no drugs, no alcohol, no violence) for a maximum of six weeks. (Community-Based Mentoring Program) Case Managers at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii work with parents, guardians, therapists, counselors, schools, and youth serving organizations to identify and pair under-resourced youth from ages 6 years old and older with one-on-one mentors. Case Managers create an outcome development plan in collaboration with the parent/guardian, child and volunteer. Plans are updated yearly. Youth and their mentors meet 2-3 times per month for a few hours each outing. Outings are selected by the youth. Mentors pick-up their mentees and are responsible for transportation and other costs they incur. Some of the costs are offset by sponsored activities and discounts at partnering companies.

(Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission) The Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) was established by the Hawai'i State Legislature in 1993 to manage the Kaho'olawe Island Reserve while held in trust for a future Native Hawaiian sovereign entity. The KIRC has pledged to provide for the meaningful and safe use of Kaho'olawe for the purpose of the traditional and cultural practices of the native Hawaiian people and to undertake the restoration of the island and its waters.
