The Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is tasked with ensuring community safety through comprehensive emergency management activities by developing and maintaining hazard mitigation, disaster response, and continuity of operations plans, coordinating the response efforts of local, state, and federal agencies during emergencies by activating the emergency operations center and managing resources and communication. MEMA disseminates critical information to the public via alerts and media updates, conducts community outreach and education programs, coordinates recovery operations post-disaster, and conducts regular training and exercises to improve the community’s emergency response capabilities.
