(Ekolu) --Referrals through the Hawaii CARES line-- Ekolu is an around-the-clock crisis stabilization facility designed for individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, or psychological crises. Our primary goal is to effectively resolve the crisis and help clients regain stability. We offer a secure and therapeutic environment for adults aged 18 years old or older, providing support for up to 14 days.

(Family Peace Center - Maui) Maui Family Peace Center teaches non-violent problem-solving skills for families struggling with adult aggression and behavioral dysfunction, emphasizing partnership, equality, and respect among families. Support for survivors/victims and child witnesses of domestic violence that includes individual and group counseling, case management, parental classes, community referrals and legal system advocacy. Support for offenders includes violence intervention groups. Adolescent services provided free of charge for those in need of effective problem solving skills to manage anger and/or those exhibiting violent behavior and anger control issues; anyone can refer themselves or a family member. Community education and training for schools, community groups, and agencies available.

(EEM, Rapid Response Landlord-Tenant Mediation) The Mediation Center of the Pacific helps landlords and tenants negotiate realistic payment plans and maintain a positive working relationship through video conference. Landlords and tenants work with an impartial mediator who will help them discuss a variety of options such as payment plans, temporary rent reductions, deferred payments, and other creative solutions that will enable the landlord to continue receiving some level of payment and enable the tenants to craft a realistic future for remaining in their rental. If landlord and tenant have flexible schedules, mediation sessions can be scheduled in 5 business days. All mediation sessions are held on Zoom.

Issues permits for hiking, hunting and taking of plants from reserve areas. Sells seedlings for Christmas trees, reforestation and wind breaks. Manages public hunting areas, public hiking areas, forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, natural areas reserves. Accepts reports of forest pests, including new and unusual weeds and certain birds. Pest reports accepted include: wild pigs, snakes, large lizards, ferrets, the banana poka (a weed), the bulbul (a bird) on neighbor islands, and the mongoose on Kauai.

(Goodwill Store - Pearl City) Operates a thrift store selling low cost clothing, furniture, household goods, toys and more. Proceeds benefit vocational training and job placement programs for people with barriers to employment.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.

(Queens Medical Center - Main Switchboard and Information) Transfer in-coming calls to requested individuals or departments. Accepts volunteers who are at least 15 years of age for areas such as the ER Department, pharmacy, business offices and nursing units.

Sets minimum sentence for prisoners. Grants paroles and supervises persons paroled from prisons. Revokes paroles. Considers applications for pardons upon referral by the Governor. Makes referrals to other service delivery providers, i.e. treatment for people on parole.

Provides volunteers for the MPRRC races, Tinman Triathlon and other charity fun run activities. Volunteers will be acknowledged and appreciated for their community service.

Lahaina Arts Guild provides art and music classes for students in 1st - 5th grade.

We also offer many programs to support youth and families that do NOT require youth to be sheltered at Hale Pono, including mediation and conflict resolution services, referrals to community resources, and other supportive drop-in/outreach programs at our facility.

(Easter Seals Hawaii Kauai Home and Community Based Services) At Easterseals Hawaii, we offer a comprehensive set of services for adults with disabilities and their families. We work to empower our clients to become more independent and participate fully in the communities where they live, work, and play. Services are delivered with dignity, passion, and the ultimate goal of self-determination. Program focus areas are enhancing independence, person-centered planning, social skills and enrichments, community integration and access, employment skills, personal care, and daily living skills. Adult Home and Community-based Services include group and individual services; employment services, Adult Day Health (ADH), Community Learning Service (CLS), Community Learning Service-Individual (CLS-I) for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as autism and down syndrome.

Maintains a sanitary and healthful environment through prevention, inspection, education, and enforcement activities. Inspects food and food service establishments, milk plants, frozen dessert manufacturing plants, dairy farms, hotels and other multi-dwelling units, adult family care homes, intermediate care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, public swimming pools, barber and beauty shops, mortuaries, embalmers, tattoo parlors and artists, massage parlors and other general public health nuisances.

AmeriCorps NCCC includes two routes: traditional and FEMA. Traditional Corps teams partner with local and national organizations to complete hands-on projects in a designated region of the country. Serve for 10 months as a Corps Member and gain a variety of professional experiences. Educate communities on sustainability and energy conservation, restore and build hiking trails, or build homes. Or serve for 11 months as a Team Leader and guide members through this transformative service experience. FEMA Corps Teams serve nationally under Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) direction to complete administrative projects related to disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. Serve for 12 months and rack up professional skills that are highly transferable. Coordinate with nonprofits and government agencies, plan response and relief efforts during a disaster, or conduct damage assessments after a disaster. Team Leaders also serve for 12 months in FEMA Corps.

Provides residential refuse collection service. Operates and maintains solid waste disposal facilities. Plans, designs, constructs, inspects and monitors all county solid waste projects. Establishes recycling programs to minimize landfills.

(Ohana Connections Program) The core beliefs of the program are: all children entering foster care have the right to know and connect with their family, a right to learn about their family history, a right to maintain their family relationships, and a right to belong to a family, community, and place. Like all children, they deserve to feel stable, secure, and loved. The ‘Ohana Connections Program, working in conjunction with the ‘Ohana Finding Program, finds and engages the foster youth’s family members and other kinship family, and then helps nurture and support those renewed family connections. The time it takes for `Ohana Connections to be completed varies in length for each family, but all efforts work toward the goal of the program: to help families reweave their family cloth so every foster child has relationships that can last for a lifetime. The Registry program helps child care providers determine their eligibility to work in the field and also provides career counseling assistance on all islands.
