Represents utility and transportation consumer interests at the Public Utilities Commission and federal agencies. Does not handle individual complaints against utilities or transportation companies (those are handled by the Public Utilities Commission which is administratively attached to the state Department of Budget and Finance). The division assists and represents customers of utility services as a whole rather than a single customer or select group of people.

(Hale Hoomalu) Provides services to individuals who are experiencing domestic violence or threatened with same. Offers assistance in obtaining temporary restraining orders (TRO) and complying with related court appearances. Provides court advocacy and support. Offers protective services for families with abused or neglected children through the TRO process (if applicable). Provides psycho-educational groups (both court ordered and voluntary) to men who batter. Provides on-going support groups for victims of domestic violence.

Provides confidential crisis intervention, legal system advocacy/ support, counseling, and medical services for sexual assault victims. Victims choose whether to report to police. Staff will be present at police interview if desired. Prevention education to schools and community also available. Also provides counseling services to anyone who has been sexually assaulted at anytime.

We support, educate and advocate for choice at the end of life. We support individuals as they navigate their way through the health care system. We support legislation relating to choice in dying as well as work to stop legislation that restricts choice. We advocate for those whose end-of-life wishes are not being followed. We provide state-specific advance directives and information on how to complete these documents. Proponents of aid in dying for incurable and terminally ill mentally competent persons, requesting aid in dying to achieve a peaceful death.

The Golden West Chapter’s evidence based wraparound model of care combines coordinated, customized medical care and community and home-based services and support. The Chapter’s proven Excellence in ALS Care Initiative encompasses all key elements of our Care Services program which are focused on ensuring proactive, expert multidisciplinary care. In addition to providing direct services, we simultaneously engage the ALS community in activities that accelerate the search for effective treatments and cures. The Chapter’s Care Services program is an evidence based “wraparound model of care” that combines fully coordinated and individualized medical care with community and home-based services and support. This model is clinically proven to help people live longer and better with ALS, as it addresses the medical, social, emotional, and financial challenges they face. The Chapter’s approach in the state of Hawaii is unduplicated and tailored for each client and their loved ones. For example, Care Managers help clients and their loved ones access information and resources in their communities, connect with clinicians who specialize in ALS, obtain durable medical equipment and augmentative communication devices available through the Chapter’s Equipment Loan Program, understand and navigate insurance benefits, provide guidance around home modification, help find professional caregivers, and connect with others living with ALS. And if people with ALS and their loved ones have concerns about anything else related to this disease, our Care Managers are there to help.

At Mental Health America of Hawaii (MHA Hawaii), we serve our community by advocating and educating to promote mental wellness. We offer a Help Line. (Domestic Violence Advocacy) Families who are enrolled in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Temporary Assistance to Other Needy Families (more commonly known as “welfare”), are required to be engaged in activities that will ultimately lead them to self-sufficiency. Program recipients for whom issues of safety and domestic violence are interfering with their progress can call upon Domestic Violence Advocacy to help them find support to change their situations. Services include: assessment, service planning, counseling services, case management and linkage and referral. Provides client advocacy for women referred by Department of Human Services (DHS) in need of case management and support to leave domestic violent relationships. Six month time period given to provide victims the opportunity to gain focus and perspective of their personal goals and career choice.

(Pediatric Oncology Parent Support) Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation (HCCF) provides a wide range of services and programs for Hawaii families who have a child diagnosed with cancer, including financial assistance, support groups, social events, education and advocacy. HCCF offers financial assistance for medical, housing, and transportation expenses during treatment.

(YWCA of Kauai Sexual Assault Treatment Program) Offers confidential crisis intervention counseling and support services for rape victims. Will accompany victims to hospital for examination, or to police for reporting, and to court if prosecution takes place. Provides speakers to schools and organizations, public education on sexual assault and harassment. Offers counseling and support services for children who have been sexually abused or molested by non-family members. Provides confidential group and individual counseling for adults molested as children.

Accepts volunteer drivers with valid driver's license and safe driving record. Volunteers will be transporting veteran's to and from VA medical appointments. (Kuaana Project) The Hawaii Health & Harm Reduction Center provides the highest quality services for the transgender community. Through advocacy and understanding, our trained staff is able to provide basic social services along with HIV and Hepatitis education and testing.

Hina’s Legacy Rescue Foundation advocates for improving the quality of life for pets statewide. We partner with other rescues for pop events to promote pet adoption and fostering.

(Hawaii Childrens Action Network) We invest in Hawaii's children by helping create sustainable solutions to poverty and inequity. Poverty alleviation starts at birth. The learning gap between advantaged and disadvantaged children shows up as early as 9 month of age. We advocate for policies that help narrow that gap. We believe all children deserve a safe place to call home. Hawaii's lack of paid family leave forces families to choose their families during their time of need, or keep their jobs. We advocate for policies that support our families and businesses, build coalitions among non-profit organizations, create partnerships with businesses, and mobilize individuals and communities.
