The Medical Reserve Corps in Hawaii is an all volunteer group with many different skill sets. The Hawaii MRC needs volunteers who have medical and non-medical backgrounds who want to serve their local communities during public health emergencies or large scale emergency response events.

Analyzes soil and plant tissue, diagnoses plant diseases, identifies insects, and analyzes feed. Assists with crop recommendations. Provides information and recommendations on backyard and garden weeds. Provides plant insect control advice. Accepts reports of plant disease problems.

Operates as adult fitness center with aqua and land aerobics. Conducts swim lessons and fitness exercises. Conducts teen leadership program. Offers preschool programs, after school A+ program, family activities and other classes.

Provides health care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides health education in adult and child health, chronic diseases, communicable disease and prevention. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation services to private schools, day care, and residential care homes.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.

Lift HI Foundation offers tailored training-to-good job pathways, in partnership with local employers like Hawaii Pacific Health, that make it easy for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) households to participate. We proactively recruit applicants within communities, geographic or otherwise, with high levels of ALICE households. Our training timetable is a free, full-time training program. Two-fifths of our training focuses on skills such as goal-setting, culture, communication, and managing conflict among others. We currently provide “income replacement” (equivalent to the minimum wage). We partner with employers who are engaged actively throughout training who help with all or part of technical/clinical training, opportunities to visit and shadow in a clinical setting, pre-graduation job interviews, and preferred job consideration. We also contract former graduates to assist our graduates in navigating their new jobs and life.

(Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. AmeriCorps State and National engages in grant-making to support organizations that see service as a solution to local and national challenges. Funded programs—at state service commissions, tribes, and local, regional, and national organizations—use national service to address community needs across a range of focus areas. Awardees receive funds on an annual basis.

(STD/AIDS Prevention Program) Coordinates HIV and STD intervention activities with community health agencies and health care providers. For neighbor islands, call or visit their island's District Health Office.

(Crisis Mobile Outreach) Professional counselors on call to help youth who are in psychiatric crisis or to supplement the efforts of their caregivers. Counselors can refer clients to specialized, short-term, out-of-home placement when needed. Provides face to face assessment of a crisis situation and arrange appropriate course of action for adolescents.

(Food Pantry) Full Gospel Church of Oahu provides food to the needy, poor, homeless or sick people.

Provides developmentally appropriate play activities for hospitalized children. Conducts pre-operative tours to minimize stress and anxiety for child/family related to illness, hospitalization or medical encounters. Coordinates volunteer activities in playroom. Conducts interventions to prevent emotional trauma. Available to all patients.

Provides protective services to abused, neglected, or financially exploited dependent adults, 18 years and older. Takes action, with client consent, to prevent further abuse from occurring. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.

(La Ohana Day at Waikalua Loko Iʻa) Come volunteer to help restore an ancient Hawaiian fishpond. Service activities include removing invasive plants, rebuilding stone walls, and collecting fish.

(Hoopono Services for the Blind Branch) Assists people with visual impairment, blindness, or both deafness and blindness to obtain and maintain employment and/or independent functioning. Provides evaluation, counseling and guidance. Provides physical and mental restoration, vocational and other training, job development and placement, and supported employment. Supplies assistive aids and devices. Teaches mobility skills, personal and home management, and communication skills.

FHLC (Family History Library Catalog): Computer-produced catalog describes all the books, films, pamphlets, maps, etc., available at the main library in Salt Lake City. 2. IGI (International Genealogical Index): A worldwide list of names and selected vital data of more than 150 million people. 3. Ancestral File: Is pedigree linked and can be grouped in families. 4. Social Security Death Index: Lists about 38 million deceased persons who had Social Security numbers and whose deaths were reported to that administration. 5. US Military Index: Index of individuals in the United States military who died, or were declared dead, in Korea or Vietnam (1950-1975). 6. Personal Ancestral File software available for Ancestral use on computers in library to make your own family record. 7. Hawaii delayed birth records index on computer. 8. Scottish Church Records.
