(Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii) Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii (VLSH) is the only organization in the state whose sole mission is to serve people in Hawaii with low to moderate income community through volunteer attorneys. Volunteer Legal’s pool of pro bono attorneys provide legal services in a wide range of civil matters, including divorces, paternities, custodies, child support, guardianships, adoptions, powers of attorney, wills, healthcare directives, landlord-tenant cases, collections, and Chapter 7 bankruptcies. Neighborhood Advice and Counsel clinics are being held in-person and via telephone. Clients are responsible for all legal deadlines associated with their case. We experience a high volume of calls. The Voluntary Establishment of Paternity phone line offers a pre-recorded message providing answers to questions related to having a father's name on a child's birth certificate. Having the father's name on a child's birth certificate creates a legal relationship between the father and child. The information provided on the line addresses questions and answers for fathers, mothers, and grandparents of a child born to a minor parent.

(Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park) Administers a national historical park in South Kona. Offers an opportunity to experience Hawaiian way of life as it was in the late 1700's. Conducts tours of the grounds by advance arrangement, including fish ponds, Hawaiian house models, native plants and the Hale o Keawe Heiau. The heiau is a temple that has been rebuilt; the original temple housed the bones of 23 chiefs. Pu'uhonua means a place of refuge or sanctuary.

Scholarships are given as a reimbursement for the tuition of college-level courses in early childhood education, for Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood (PACE) classes taken if converted to college credits, or for direct assessment fees in obtaining a Child Development Association (CDA) certificate. The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. The Building Industry Association of Hawaii (BIA Hawaii) provides year-round education and workforce training through its Construction Training Center of the Pacific. Our programs are designed to meet the evolving needs of Hawaii’s construction industry, offering practical, certification-based training for both new entrants and experienced professionals. Current offerings include: OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 construction safety training; CPR, First Aid, and AED (in-person and hybrid options); Forklift, Aerial Lift, and Equipment Operation; Supervisor Leadership Training; Specialized safety courses including Fall Protection, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Silica Awareness, and more; NAHB courses in estimating, scheduling, marketing, business management, and risk mitigation; USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management training. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. (Workforce Development - Maui) Provides job training, placement, and case management services for individuals receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)/VR (Vocational Rehabilitation) assistance.

(After School No'eau Program) Ulu A‘e Learning Center uses a high touch, personalized approach in growing the hearts and minds of children during the out of school time though storytelling, Native Hawaiian practices and stewardship experiences. The after school time begins with homework help and moves to lessons in Native Hawaiian practices. Our facility is equipped with indoor and outdoor flexible learning spaces. Three computers are available for student use. Those with personal laptops or iPads will have access to our WIFI for the purpose of completing homework or school projects.

Quality Care for Hawaiian Keiki (QCHK) is a child care subsidy program for Native Hawaiian in Maui County. QCHK goals are to help Native Hawaiian/Part Hawaiian families become more economically self sufficient as well as helping their children to become school ready. Program provides assistance to families to pay for child care, for children ages 0-13 and up to 19 years old for children with special needs. Child care includes Licensed Family Child Care Homes, Infant and Toddler Centers, Preschools, Before/After school Programs, Intercession care as well as License-Exempt providers. Provides help with child care providers in Maui County with any needs that they might have in the areas of training, health, safety and licensing.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Advertiser and Star-Bulletin the week before registration week.
