The Humane Society Hawaii Island (HIHS) provides shelter, food, licensing, adoption and euthanasia services for animals picked up by HIHS humane officers or brought in by private owners. Offers certificate for spaying/neuterig animals three times a year. Recruits and trains volunteers to care for the animals, work in the office and represent the Humane Society at community events. (WSPAP) The Western States Pension Assistance Project is a pension counseling project within Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) that provides services free of charge, serving callers of all ages and income levels who live or have worked in California, Arizona, Nevada or Hawaii. There are no age or income requirements to this project. The team helps clients to understand their retirement plan rights and claim the benefits they have earned, regardless of the type of company or retirement benefit involved. They also assist with tracking down benefits from previous employers, working through the claims and appeals process, helping clients understand their rights as a former or surviving spouse, correcting pension benefit calculations, and addressing overpayment demands.

Kumu Kahua means "Original stage" or "Platform". Kumu Kahua is a Playwright's Theatre in the State of Hawaii, providing the local community with 35 years of plays written by local playwrights for the community to attend. The 100 seater black box theatre performs five plays during its Season of Shows. Produces theatre oriented towards Hawaii's people, in their multi-ethnic diversity. Acts as a platform for local writers as well as hands-on operation for local actors, directors and theatre technicians. Offers classes in playwriting and acting. Accepts volunteers to assist with fundraising, box office, ushing, threatre technicians and phone duties.
