Interprets Hawaiian ethnobotany and conserves Hawaiian traditions relating to horticultural practices and land use. Covers twelve acres and includes a five acre archaeological remnant of the prehistoric agricultural zone that once dominated the Kona district. Collection includes agricultural cultivars and plants introduced by the Polynesians, as well as a collection of nearly one hundred native Hawaiian plants. Surfrider Spirit Sessions is a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that mentors at risk and adjudicated youths. Our 8 week mentoring program surrounds adjudicated and at risk youths with positive adult and peer role models and uses a unique combination of Hawaiian culture, environmental awareness, surfing, eco-therapy, socialization, mentoring and educational activities to help teens develop new skills, enhance self-esteem, embrace new modes of thinking and break their cycle of errant behavior. Conducts forestry research in Hawaii and Pacific Basin islands. Studies ecosystem restoration, species trials and agroforestry studies. Rainbow School Kaneohe has been in operation since 1991. Our school is located on the grounds of Parker United Methodist Church. Rainbow School Kaneohe is able to care for 120 children ranging in age from 2 years to 5 years old. Our program is licensed by the State of Hawaii and also has the distinction of being accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). All staff meet State licensing requirements. We accept DHS – Child Care Connection, Open Door, First-to-Work, Kamehameha Schools’ Keiki Pauahi Scholars Program, and Federal subsidies. All tuition payments are done through the FACTS Tuition Management program. Your child’s Form 14, current TB clearance and DHS 908 Form are required upon acceptance into the school. Parents are also responsible for a non-refundable registration fee of $175 upon acceptance. If there are no availabilities, your child’s application will be placed on the center’s waitlist. 808 Cleanups mission is to achieve complete ecosystem restoration in Hawaii. Our approach involves community engagement, education, and the removal of invasive species to allow native plants and cultural sites to flourish. We offer educational programs that raise awareness about environmental issues and sustainable practices and organize and lead community events that foster a collective spirit of stewardship and conservation.

Enforces federal wage and hour statutes including Fair Labor Standards Act, Wage Garnishment, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Immigration Reform and Control Act, Service Contract Act, Family and Medical Leave Acts, Davis Bacon Act, various "Whistle Blower" Acts, Public Contract Acts and others. Enforces laws concerned with child labor, overtime, prevailing wages and fringe benefits, farm labor employee protection, etc. Majority of employees in Hawaii may be covered by one or more of these laws. Enforcement responsibility is similar to that of the Wage Standards Division of the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Prevents and suppresses outbreaks of vector-borne diseases and serious vector nuisances through inspections, surveillance, monitoring, enforcement, consultation and education in the control of harmful vermin such as insects that bite or are a public nuisance such as ants, sand flies, and other insects. Also gives public advice on small animals and insects causing a problem in or near a home or building such as mice, roaches, flies, gnats, mites, rats, and nesting birds. Offers information and advice to individuals experiencing pest problems. Accepts birds that the public drops off for West Nile testing. They no longer spray for mosquitos.

Hawaiian Council is offering up to $5,000 in financial assistance to help individuals and families replace vehicles lost due to the recent floods and storms. This program is designed to restore mobility and support impacted households in returning to work, school, and daily life. Award amounts will be based on demonstrated need and the verified funding gap, up to a maximum of $5,000. Funds will help with purchasing a replacement vehicle, reimbursement of a vehicle that was already purchased, or help with an existing auto loan balance. Makaha Community Center is accepting volunteers to help year round and in the post disaster period. Volunteers help with the collection and distribution of food, clothing, furniture, appliances, small appliances, cleaning supplies, etc. Times vary depending on volunteer hours. Three or four volunteers needed per day.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hawaii provides: Free and confidential support services to injured victims and to families and close friends of those who have been killed, Range of free brochures, books on grief, and other literature, Court accompaniment and criminal justice system navigation, An annual candlelight vigil of hope and remembrance held during the holiday season, The possibility of serving on a “Victim Impact Panel” where victims share their stories with people who have been arrested for DUI. MADD Hawaii works closely with the Victim Witness Assistance Division of the Prosecutor's office, with youth programs and young teens in the prevention of underage drinking. The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped serves as the regional library and machine lending agency for the blind and physically disabled throughout the state and the outlying Pacific Islands in cooperation with the Library of Congress and the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicaped. BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) - Digital audio books and magazines are available for download from t he National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Library services application: individuals, institutions Applicants must be registered and in active status with the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Patrons should ensure their name and address are updated with the library before applying. New patrons should wait two weeks before applying for BARD because new patron information and changes are submitted to the NLS database (CMLS) only once a week.
