New Eyes assists persons with low-income individuals in the United States. We provide a basic pair of eyeglasses with single or lined bifocal lenses. If the application is approved, a unique e-voucher number is emailed with a link to our eyeglass ordering site and instructions on how to order eyeglasses. (H-HEAP, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program-Energy Crisis Intervention-Kalihi-Pala, LIHEAP ECI, ECI) Hawaii Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) Energy Crisis Intervention (ECI) is designed to help families keep their utilities (gas or electric) on, especially those households that are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, the disabled, and households with young children. H-HEAP primarily assists households by applying an energy assistance grant directly to the energy provider on behalf of the eligible household. Applications are accepted year-round. Operates a thrift store selling low cost clothing, furniture, household goods, toys and more. Proceeds benefit vocational training and job placement programs for people with barriers to employment.

(Emergency Farmer Relief) The State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity provides the Emergency Farmer Relief Program. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses who experienced damage or losses from the March 2026 Kona Low 1 or Kona Low 2 may receive a one-time grant of $1,500 to help with immediate needs resulting from the storm. Applications open on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Applicants who complete and submit applications by Friday, March 27, 2026 will be prioritized funding. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Hispanic Link, MEO) Enlace Hispano translates to "Hispanic Link" in English. Provides cultural integration, translation, referrals, outreach, community events, substance abuse education and workforce development to the Hispanic community.

(IIH, Intensive in Home) This program provides mental health services for children/adolescents who have serious emotional and behavioral disorders. Program staff work with the family to stabilize and preserve their capacity to improve the youth’s functioning in the current living environment and to prevent the need for placement outside the home. Intensive In-Home Mental Health Treatment Services for children, youth, and families who require a higher level of care than office-based services, but who do not require residential or hospital level care.

Educates about agriculture, youth development, home economics and consumerism. Advises on soil management, livestock, crops, food preparation, clothing and farm management. Conducts 4-H clubs.

Provides counseling services to juveniles who are at risk and beyond parental control. Refers client to professional agencies and therapist if needed.

Provides a place and opportunity for religious expression by those who choose the Salvation Army. Provides character building programs for all ages: Guards and Sunbeams, Adventure Corps (Youth), Home League (Women), Men's Fellowship. Provides assistance to those who are in need of food and clothing. Provides hospital, care home, and shut-in visitation to the institutionalized.

Jury trials are held in the Circuit Courts, which have general jurisdiction in civil and criminal cases. They also have exclusive jurisdiction in probate, guardianship and criminal felony cases, as well as civil cases where the contested amount exceeds $40,000. Circuit Courts share concurrent jurisdiction with District Courts in civil non-jury cases in which the amounts in controversy are between $10,000 and $40,000. Other cases heard by the Circuit Courts include mechanics' liens and misdemeanor violations transferred from the District Courts for jury trials.

(Ko'olauloa Health Center) Provides health screening such as blood pressure screening, blood tests, breast examinations, chest x-rays, drug/alcohol testing, hepatitis testing, pregnancy testing, psychological testing, sexually transmitted disease screening, etc. Other services include flu shots, information and referral, immunizations, well baby care, dental care, health education and more. The Relocation Program provides services to inbound and outbound soldiers and family members about resources that are needed to make informed decisions and to reduce problems that occur due to frequent moves. Services include relocation planning, pre-arrival information, welcome packet, newcomer's orientation, island tour and immigration informational workshops. Additionally, a lending closet is available with basic household items which are loaned at no charge to soldiers and family members in transition.

Funds projects involving public health education, research and legislation for which other funds are not available. Priority goes to projects which will bring visible results. Funds usually used as seed money.

(Food Pantry) Malia Puka Okalani Church provides a food pantry.

Offers weekly individual or group counseling focused on teaching independent living skills for youth aged 12 to 25. Maintains a training apartments from young men aged 17.5 to 19 who are in transition from foster care, group homes, shelters or institutions and also a home for young women transitioning out of foster care to independent living (training apartment participants are expected to have jobs and pay for rent and food). Also a home for pregnant and parenting teens.

Provides shelter for persons who are homeless and who are willing to abide by house rules (including, but not limited to: no drugs, no alcohol, no violence) for a maximum of six weeks. Stays up to six weeks include mandatory attendance at life skills training. Residence beyond six weeks includes vocational and educational referrals and assistance. Requires clients to be actively engaged in improving their situation with the goal of moving back into the community. Has 40 studio and 32 two-bedroom units with kitchen and bath; separate dormitories for single women and single men; day care center; primary care medical clinic, laundry facilities and common dining hall. Can accommodate 310 persons.
