Statewide Homeless Emergency Grants Program – Maui County

Seamless Summer Program

(SSO) Department of Education Seamless Summer Option (SSO) Program provides meals free of charge at participating public schools for children 1 year old - 18 years old June 9, 2026 - July 17, 2026. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate.
Schools will serve breakfast 7:15 am - 8:45 am and lunches from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. There will be no meal service on the June 11, 2026 (Kamehameha Day) and July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed) state holidays.
All meals must be eaten on campus; no grab-and-go options are available. Children do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served, and meals will consist of solid foods. Please check the website for participating schools.

Key Programs: Administers the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program to provide vaccinations through community healthcare providers for uninsured and underinsured children birth - 18 years of age. Provides education and information to healthcare providers and general public related to vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases. Monitors immunization levels in schools, child care centers, and targeted populations. Oversees enforcement of school immunization and physical examination requirements. Provides Hepatitis B vaccine to newborn infants born at all Hawaii delivery hospitals.

Whether supporting large-scale events at the Hookupu Center or preparing daily meals for the Kupu Community Program, Kupu provides participants with industry-aligned training that promotes youth empowerment, job readiness, and workforce development within Hawaii’s growing green economy.
The Kupu Culinary Program has responded to disasters in the form of providing meals to those in need. In addition to technical culinary training, participants strengthen essential soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork, equipping them to transition successfully into long-term employment or further educational opportunities in the culinary or service industries.

Volunteer Connections
(Our Kupuna, Hawaii VA Foundation) The program connects each low-income homebound kupuna with a sponsor (a community volunteer who shops for and delivers groceries, medication and necessary supplies to the kupuna's home every 2 weeks). The kupuna pays for the groceries that the volunteer delivers. The volunteer does not enter the kupuna's home.

Participants learn to create and share their own stories, which are meaningful and deserve to be heard and seen.

Strong Families Home Visits - East Hawaii Island

(SFHV, Strong Families Home Visits) This program provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate professional and paraprofessional home visitation services to
families with children ages birth to 3 years old. Program participants are referred by Child Welfare Services, Voluntary Case Management,
or Family Strengthening Services programs. Service interventions reduce child abuse and neglect risks, increase family self-sufficiency, address family stressors, and improve child adjustment and achievement.
Domestic Violence Services for Families offers a full spectrum of individual, group and family services to men, women and children to aid in the intervention and prevention of domestic violence in families and to strengthen child resilience and overall wellbeing. Service that are available include:
-A Comprehensive Basic Assessment including a Trauma Assessment as needed
-Risk Assessment
-Crisis Management
-Safety Planning
-Development of a Comprehensive Service Plan
-Individual, group and/or family counseling and support for each referred family member
-Supervised visitation/exchanges and/or therapeutic visitation
