(The Maui Farm) The Family Strengthening Program is a farm-based residential program providing transitional housing and life skills training for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic violence and economic issues. With a focus on the whole family, the program provides opportunities for daily learning and application of healthy life skills and effective parenting strategies in a safe home environment, and strengthens families to remain intact and healthy. Working in collaboration with partner agencies including Women Helping Women and other homeless services provider agencies, The Maui Farm’s services strengthen the continuum of care for struggling families. We provide a housing and family strengthening component after emergency shelter services have been maximized, and before families move on to long-term affordable housing in the community. The average duration of program participation is six to eighteen months. Shared housing is provided on-site at The Maui Farm, with monthly rental fees determined in compliance with federal HOME Program regulations.

(H-HEAP, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program-Energy Crisis Intervention-Kalihi-Pala, LIHEAP ECI, ECI) Hawaii Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) Energy Crisis Intervention (ECI) is designed to help families keep their utilities (gas or electric) on, especially those households that are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, the disabled, and households with young children. H-HEAP primarily assists households by applying an energy assistance grant directly to the energy provider on behalf of the eligible household. Applications are accepted year-round. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Aloha Diaper Pantry) The Aloha Diaper Bank supports newborns up to 3 years old who are facing poverty or family crises due to job loss or personal circumstances. Working in collaboration with various local agencies that serve low-income, homeless, and families in crisis, we provide essential diapers and wipes. Families are encouraged to register with one of the partner agencies to receive ongoing support and access other valuable services during challenging times. Additionally, the Aloha Diaper Bank offers a one-time emergency assistance package, including 75 diapers and 2 packs of baby wipes, to address immediate needs. If you are an individual in need of diapers, our partner agency Keiki O Ka Aina can help to sign you up to receive diapers and provide you guidance with parenting services and classes. Food Basket Hawaii Island's Food Bank’s SNAP outreach program helps with completing SNAP applications.

Salvation Army Hilo may provide an emergency food box for those families who are disaster survivors. Call for assistance.

(Loaves and Fishes) Sacred Heart Church provides food to those in need. Food Pantry Dates for 2021- Once a month on November 24th and December 16th Beginning 2022 - food pantry services will be available the 4th Thursday of every month

(Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi) We provide disease prevention and health promotion services through advocacy, accessibility, and education. We offer Case Management Services (such as home visits to conduct blood pressure checks, glucose checks, assistance with applications for medical insurance), and referrals to other health-related agencies. We also provide Health Education (Diabetes, Hypertension, Nutrition, and Tobacco Cessation), Traditional Healing Workshops and Classes, as well as one-to-one services by referral. Specialty Transportation provided to medical-related appointments (based on needs and availability)- for individuals restricted to a wheelchair or gurney.

Investigates complaints from dissatisfied consumers and advises those who have landlord and/or tenant problems. Will investigate complaints in the following areas: advertising, art galleries, car rentals, charitable solicitations, collection practices, credit sales, door-to-door sales, health clubs, interest and usury, investment schemes, Made-in-Hawaii goods, refunds and exchanges, unaccredited degree granting institutions, unfair or deceptive trade practices, unsolicited goods, or undisclosed charges.

(Ma Ka Hana Ka Ike) Ma Ka Hana Ka 'Ike ("In Working, One Learns") is a hands-on vocational skills training program for at-risk high-school youth in Hana, Maui. The mission of our program is to provide Hana's youth with a way to learn that makes sense to them, that builds their self-esteem and shows them they have the power to change their future. By applying academics to real-life situations, our program gives students tangible skills that translate into valuable life experience, while our after-school training component provides much-needed employment in our community. We've established partnerships with other area nonprofits to identify community members who'll best benefit from our students' vocational education. Our goals include transforming the behavioral patterns of at-risk youth, creating an appreciation of learning, building community relationships, responding to real school and community needs, and offering skills of self-sustenance to the remote Hana region.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless assists with emergency veterinary care for pets whose owners are experiencing homelessness. All new requests for assistance are now submitted through our online application: https://petsofthehomeless.org/emergency-veterinary-care/ Applications are reviewed Monday–Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (PST), excluding holidays. If you have limited access to the internet, many public libraries, shelters, and resource centers offer free computer or mobile access. A trusted advocate or case worker may also assist you in completing the application. If approved, we will provide instructions for scheduling care with a participating veterinary clinic. You contribute what you are able to at the appointment, and we help cover the remaining eligible costs. Important: Services may be declined based on eligibility criteria, missed appointments, service limitations, specific procedures, or funding availability. Feeding Pets of the Homeless reserves the right to refuse service at its discretion.
