The Salvation Army Lihue Corps provides a place and opportunity for religious expression by those who choose the Salvation Army. Provides character building programs for all ages. Assistance is provided to those who are in need of food and clothing. Provides hospital visits, care home visit, and shut-in visitation to the institutionalized. Mobile showers are available every Tuesday from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm. Back to school supplies program is available mid-July. Holiday programs available as well. NIH Osteoporosis and Related Bone Diseases National Resource Center is a service provided by the National Institutes of Health. Provides written material on osteoporosis to patients, health professionals and the public in English, Spanish and selected Asian languages (Vietnamese, Chinese & Korean). Also carries materials on other metabolic bone diseases such as Paget's Disease and Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Does not provide counseling over the phone.

(TANF, Emergency Assistance Program - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) The Emergency Assistance Program provides individuals with families who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless with emergency financial assistance. The program may provide one-time support for first month’s rent, past-due rent/mortgage and utility bills, and utility deposits for electric, water, and gas.

Offers rewards of up to $1000 to tipster who give information that leads to arrest or indictment of persons committing crimes or for the recovery of stolen property. All calls are confidential. Different unsolved crimes will be publicized in paper or television. Also accepts information on missing persons.

(Ready To Learn Program, RTL, R2L Program, Ready 2 Learn Program) Ready to Learn (RTL) is a statewide initiative that provides students in need from kindergarten through high school with a backpack filled with new pencils, pens, notebooks and other school supplies with an intended outcome of school readiness. Assistance is provided year round, but the primary period is the summer before each new school year. Application period for school supplies is from March-May, and the distribution of school supplies is in July. If you miss the application period, call the Community Clearinghouse at the number listed at the end of July to see if there are any school supplies left after the primary distribution is done.

The United Way movement includes approximately 1,400 community-based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated and governed by local volunteers.

(CLDP, Team Based Opportunities) The Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) is a paid program for early professionals interested in pursuing a career in conservation. In CLDP, members are selected by a Host Site (partner organization) that aligns with their skills and conservation interests. Serving in areas such as ornithology, botany, natural resource management, aquatic resource management, marine biology, Hawaiian cultural studies, agricultural science, and more, CLDP terms typically last from 6 months to 1 year, offering hands-on experience, professional development, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact in communities across Hawaii and the Pacific.

Ulupono Family Strengthening Program provides family support, referrals, and resources to families on Oahu and Maui from birth to 17 years old to promote positive parenting and healthy child development.

Aged to Perfection Assists adults with disabilities by provides a senior day care experience to home bound, disabled elderly persons. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. Accepts clients that require 2 person wheelchair assist, clients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease and a combination of issues. Includes breakfast, lunch and snack.

Represents beekeepers at legislature. Sponsors workshops, classes and meetings periodically. Removes swarms of bees (including honey bees, wasps, and/or hornets).

(Hale Ho'omalu - Food Pantry, Neighborhood Places of Kauai) Food pantry operating out of All Saints Episcopal Church on Thursday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Households with children limited to request food twice a month. Households with no children limited to request food once a month.

Aloha Church Assembly of God provides a food pantry and food distribution to those in need.

Operates voluntary reassurance and notification service, whereby the letter carrier will be alerted to an accumulation of mail which might indicate a person's inability to pick up mail because of a sudden illness or accident. Places a decal inside the registrant's mailbox as a signal to the letter carrier that occupant is participating in this program. Reports an accumulation of mail directly to Elderly Affairs Division/Senior I&A Program for follow-up.
