The Army Volunteer Corps is designed to help individuals to find local volunteer opportunities within the Army community.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: fall, spring, and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music and dance, seasonal activities and crafts, excursions and swimming. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration. Also accepts birds that are dropped off for West Nile testing.

Manages small boat harbors and launch ramps. Issues boat registrations and permits for ocean recreation events such as canoe regattas, surfing and board sailing contests, and yacht races. Regulates commercial activities such as "thrillcraft" operations.

Provides comprehensive services to persons in acute mental health crisis or who are suffering from a serious mental illness. Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment, counseling and psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

(HMSA) Hawaii Medical Services Association (HMSA) Centers and offices offer in-person customer service to members and employers with an HMSA health plan as well as individuals who are looking to enroll in an HMSA plan. Offers medical, dental, vision, and drug health care plans to individuals and employers. Plan options include fee-for-service, preferred provider organization, health maintenance organization and plans for students, self-employed and Medicare supplement.

Offers multipurpose senior programs and congregate meals. Serves as a focal point for service delivery and presentations by other agencies.

Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service. Also provides U.S. Passports at several library locations. Voter registration forms also available.

Home visiting for parent support and coaching.

Families who are accepted into our program can live at the National Home in a single family home for up to four years while working with a professional case worker to set goals and make plans for the future. Families also have access to educational, recreational and enrichment opportunities. Community resources and counseling referrals are provided as needed. Free state-certified daycare services are provided free of charge for children five and under.

The Family Court hears legal matters involving children; domestic relations cases including divorce, child support, paternity, custody matters; domestic violence cases including civil restraining orders involving family members; civil commitment cases, guardianships of adults, and adult abuse cases.

(HEAL, Healthy Eating + Active Living Coalitions - Heal) Hawaii Public Health Institute works to improve health behaviors and reduce chronic disease through policy, systems, and environmental changes.

(RICO) Investigates and prosecutes consumer complaints against industries requiring a professional or vocational license. Each office is authorized to accept written complaints. Oral or anonymous complaints may be accepted. Distributes applications for professional or vocational licenses.

Operates outpatient clinics for medical and mental health problems, including primary care clinics on Kauai, Maui and Hawaii. Provides inpatient psychiatry care at Tripler and referral to Tripler, community and state hospitals, or mainland VA hospitals if inpatient care is needed for other services. Administers a specialized program for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Facilitates the development of a desirable living environment through dialogue with the community and the application of professional planning principles. Serves as the technical advisor to the mayor, council and planning commissions on all planning and related matters. Recommends revisions to the general plan at least every ten years to guide the development of the county. Prepares and enforces zoning ordinances, zoning maps and regulations and any amendments or modifications there to. Provides the services necessary to meet the objective and policies of the Hawaii Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Program, to administer all developments and activities within the Special Management Area (SMA). Processes permits for special uses, County special uses, changes in zoning, district boundary review and other permits requiring zoning. Continually reviews planning concepts and documents through discussions with the public, policy makers, public service agencies, landowners and County boards and commissions.

(HI HELPS) Provides access to the enrollment process via smartphone, iPad, laptop, desktop, zoom call, standard phone call or referral to community health centers for walk-ins. Uses a needs assessment tool to determine appropriate health insurance option, including retiree/federal or veteran insurance as well as marketplace, medicare and medicaid solutions. Guides consumers through the healthcare.gov marketplace eligibility and application process using a direct enrollment pathway. The system reduces need for complicated identity verification modules and allows the enrollee or a marketplace assister select a plan and enroll in under 15 minutes. Reviews eligibility information and enrollment forms to help individuals who may qualify for medicare, medicare savings programs and/or medicaid programs. Refers individuals to appropriate state or federal agencies for issues that require investigation and follow up. Compares plan benefits, pricing, deductibles and services that are not covered. Uploads required documents to facilitate marketplace enrollments. Monitors enrollments for acceptance, premium payments and issuance of member identification cards. Assists with cancellation of the marketplace plan if no longer needed. Trains team of community certified application assisters and monitors annual recertification and credentials. Ensures all activities are compliant and meet federal and state regulations including protected health information mandates. Develops and distributes outreach materials to community health centers, food bank distribution locations, and other venues where the newly unemployed utilize resources available due to the pandemic. No face to face contact needed to enroll and those that qualify for Medicaid will be contacted by Medicaid with eligibility results and/or approval. Health premium subsidy based on household income. There is a 60 day window beginning the day coverage is lost to qualify for the special enrollment period.

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. The Great Aloha Run is an 8.12-mile foot race beginning at Aloha Tower and finishes in the Aloha Stadium. The race financially assists scholarship programs and special projects of selected charitable organizations which serve the community needs in the State of Hawaii.
