Manages public hunting areas, public hiking areas, forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, natural area reserves. Accepts reports of forest pests, including new and unusual weeds and certain birds. Pest reports accepted include: wild pigs, snakes, large lizards, ferrets, the banana poka (a weed), the bulbul (a bird) on neighbor islands, and the mongoose on Kauai.

(Youth Shelter, Youth Shelter - Maui) Provides 24-hour emergency shelter for youth 10 - 17 years. Offers individual, family and group counseling. Provides substance abuse prevention, educational services, including tutoring, transportation to the public schools and GED preparation. Organizes cultural, recreational and community activities. Provides after care follow-up to youth and their families returning to a home situation. Provides case management services for independent clients.

The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. The Armed Services YMCA of Honolulu provides innovative and quality social, educational, and recreational programs to meet the needs of military service members and their families in the state of Hawaii. The ASYMCA is committed to promoting its goals of strengthening military families, supporting healthy lifestyles, reducing isolation and assisting service members and their families in connecting to their community. Provides a variety of programs for military families including family outreach services, food pantry and craft classes. Accepts volunteers to assist with answering the telephone, customer service, cleaning, decorating for special events and assisting with children 5 years old and below. Provides drop-in child care for military families when they have medical/doctor appointments, services are offered at Tripler and Schofield facilities.

(TANF, Emergency Assistance Program - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) The Emergency Assistance Program provides individuals with families who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless with emergency financial assistance. The program may provide one-time support for first month’s rent, past-due rent/mortgage and utility bills, and utility deposits for electric, water, and gas.

Offers rewards of up to $1000 to tipster who give information that leads to arrest or indictment of persons committing crimes or for the recovery of stolen property. All calls are confidential. Different unsolved crimes will be publicized in paper or television. Also accepts information on missing persons.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Kukui Center was designed and renovated to meet the need to provide an easily identified and specialized place where abused, vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families can receive the help they need. Professional and volunteer help is available elsewhere throughout our community but in many different locations. Even when needed, the follow through on referrals can be poor as parents and young adults are often overwhelmed by the demands of their daily lives. Housing a variety of services together is more user friendly for children, youth and families and will help insure they can access the strong community support that is available.
