(PACT) The Building Industry Association of Hawaii (BIA Hawaii) offers a Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) program, funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) in partnership with Work Hawaii. This six-week program is free for qualifying individuals and is intended to prepare participants for entry-level employment in the construction field. The curriculum includes: OSHA 30 Certification; CPR/First Aid/AED and Bloodborne Pathogens; Introduction to carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical; Green building fundamentals; Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Certification; Disaster site safety (15-hour OSHA); Job readiness support, including resume preparation and interview coaching; A guided tour of an active construction site. Participants also earn nationally recognized credentials, including the Home Builders Institute (HBI) Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate, and leave the program prepared for roles such as laborer, carpenter, plumber, or electrician assistant with pathways toward advancement in the industry.

The Back-to-School Brigade is an annual nationwide campaign by Operation Homefront that collects and distributes school supplies to eligible dependents of service members. HNL Tool Library’s mission is to increase the resource wealth of our local community by providing a platform for sharing, education, and skill development. We provide a membership based community tool lending program for a monthly fee, which provides access to tools that might be unaffordable otherwise. You can borrow as many tools as you need to help you get the job done. You can borrow a tool for one week, and can renew tools for a second week if no one else reserves them. We also provide blades and bits, basic used consumables are free to borrow. New and specialty items are available for a small fee.

Family Hui Hawaii coordinates and provides peer-led parenting support groups for families with young children, age prenatal-5 years old. Families are matched with a group leader in their community based on their child's age and neighborhood. Once a group is formed, families take part in 12 weekly parenting and child development discussions. Group members are able to connect and share their experiences with other families and often develop life-long friendships. Each family receives our Embracing 'Ohana Notebook as a permanent resource. Family Hui offers child development screenings, provides referrals to other agencies, weekly parenting tips on Facebook and current community resources, and invites families to special events and workshops. Medicab provides a door to door transportation service for people who need assistance or need to be escorted, usually to a doctor or medical facility. Drivers are trained how to communicate and assist elderly and disabled people. The driver does not lift, carry or push anyone. Drivers do sign out customers from the hospital and assist (guide by hand) people in and out of the vehicle COVID-19 patients are asked to sit at the back seat with their masks on. The driver drives with the windows down for full ventilation.
