Shelter of Wisdom rents homes which are shared by our men. Men live in double rooms with shared living areas and house chores. We provide intensive case management until our men are accepted into permanent housing. We provide household furnishings for their new homes, which are donated to us by the community. Men must maintain their sobriety, hygiene, medications, meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping and behavior.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.

(Neighborhood Development and Community Outreach Program (former name)) Community Services program offers an array of services to individuals and families in need. Provides food pantry on-site to those in need of food. Provides hygiene pantry for the homebound seniors. School supplies program is collaborative effort with Helping Hands Hawaii. We accept school supplies donations and help distribute them as well.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a gym. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Provides bicycling advocacy in such areas as commuting, education, mountain biking, recreation, sport, touring, tourism, trail maintenance, transportation, etc. Organizes weekend rides, bicycling events and races, bi-monthly newsletter, membership meetings, etc. Conducts Bike Ed Hawaii, an on-bike on-road bicycling education program for 4th grade children in Oahu's public school system. Also teaches a walk smart program at the First grade level and a Sixth Grade review course.

Represents utility and transportation consumer interests at the Public Utilities Commission and federal agencies. Does not handle individual complaints against utilities or transportation companies (those are handled by the Public Utilities Commission which is administratively attached to the state Department of Budget and Finance). (H-HEAP, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Energy Crisis Intervention - Central, LIHEAP ECI, ECI) Hawaii Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) Energy Crisis Intervention (ECI) is designed to help families keep their utilities (gas or electric) on, especially those households that are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, the disabled, and households with young children. H-HEAP primarily assists households by applying an energy assistance grant directly to the energy provider on behalf of the eligible household. Applications are accepted year-round. (MEO, MEO Core 4 Business Planning Class) Offers a 30-hour course that helps individuals analyze business opportunity and plan success. The course guides individuals in the development of a realistic, achievable plan for a business. It is helpful for prospective entrepreneurs as well as existing small business owners.
