(FSP) Freeway Service Patrol offers a variety of services to assist you when your vehicle has stopped on the freeway or close to off and on ramps. Our goal is to help you get your vehicle started so that you can get back on the road. If your vehicle does not start, a Freeway Service Patrol driver may tow you and your vehicle to an off-freeway location. The services we provide include: -Changing flat tires -Jump starting your car as a result of a dead battery -Radiator refills -Making temporary repairs -Providing gallon of gasoline (we do not provide diesel) -Towing vehicle off the freeway to a designated drop area. Once your vehicle is towed off the freeway, you can call for another towing service or your automobile insurance for further assistance.

Medicab provides a door to door transportation service for people who need assistance or need to be escorted, usually to a doctor or medical facility. Drivers are trained how to communicate and assist elderly and disabled people. The driver does not lift, carry or push anyone. Drivers do sign out customers from the hospital and assist (guide by hand) people in and out of the vehicle COVID-19 patients are asked to sit at the back seat with their masks on. The driver drives with the windows down for full ventilation.

The Community Assistance Center provides community group therapy for sex offenders.

Operation School Bell provides new school clothing to children in schools identified as Title 1 by the Hawaii State Department of Education and school personnel. In schools with school uniforms, a school shirt is paid for by the Assistance League of Hawaii.

Three meals per day are prepared at our Sumner Men’s Shelter and served across our 10-shelter network. Help prepare and serve meals at the men’s shelter. This volunteer position is great for individuals or groups, as each shift accommodates up to 5 volunteers. Shifts are available 3 meals per day, 7 days per week.

Provides counseling, advocacy, representation on behalf of veterans, their families, dependents to secure rights or benefits. Receives, investigates, and resolves disputes and complaints. Assesses client information and circumstances to determine need and/or eligibility for services and benefits. Provides burial assistance benefits including burial, burial allowance, plot or interment allowance, headstone or grave marker, burial flags, presidential memorial certificate, dependency and indemnity compensation and other benefits. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Provides psychosocial rehabilitative services which assist individuals to develop daily and community living skills. Teaches clients to set goals for themselves, learn problem solving, handle social relationships. Utilizes self-help group experiences and pre-vocational services including educational and recreational activities. Arranges for linkages with vocational programs and job placement services for people with severe mental illness.

LDAH provides mentoring, technical assistance and training to parents/families of children with disabilities or suspected disabilities in special education.

This CDC-recognized program is a year-long structured lifestyle change program that includes dietary coaching and moderate physical activity, all with the goal of preventing or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes among those who are at high risk for diabetes. The program consists of 16 core sessions over the course of the first six months, followed by less-intensive classes held monthly for the rest of the year-long program. The goal of the program is to cut one's risk of developing diabetes in half by losing 5-7% of their body weight through healthier eating and engaging in 150 minutes of physical activity each week. This program also includes shopping tours, cooking classes, exercise, on-site gardening, and stress management sessions.

The Salvation Army Kaneohe Corps provides families needing food a food box. Families may come once a month for a food box. Boxes may include frozen or refrigerated items. Last week of December 2025 Closed

Project Vision is providing shelter for those affected by the Maui wildfires in August 2023 that do not have shelter. The site will be able to house around 150 people who will be provided a military grade tent for shelter. There is access to showers, medical care and restrooms as well as other services. The shelter will also provide transportation to and from the site. Case managers from the state will also be on hand to work with those shelter residents to develop a recovery plan. Location is off Hana Highway in Pu'unene.

Funds projects involving public health education, research and legislation for which other funds are not available. Priority goes to projects which will bring visible results. Funds usually used as seed money.

(HMSA) Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) Centers and offices offer in-person customer service to members and employers with an HMSA health plan as well as individuals who are looking to enroll in an HMSA plan. Offers medical, dental, vision, and drug health care plans to individuals and employers. Plan options include fee-for-service, preferred provider organization, health maintenance organization and plans for students, self-employed and Medicare supplement.
