Each year, Hawai‘i Opera Theatre produces an opera specifically designed to take “on tour” to schools all around the state. In addition to being a great experience with music and drama, this show can also be used to enhance curriculum. Themes are relevant to social studies, language arts, math and more. This production is recommended for grade level K-8 and family audiences but has also been successful with middle and high school audiences as well. Cost per performance is $325 with the recommended audience size of 200 students per performance. The production uses live music accompaniment. Offers three specialized treatments for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Here and Now group for current life issues concentrating on providing veterans with effective coping skills and management of PTSD symptomology. Providing veterans with the abilities to identify risk factors, prevent relapse and practice effective coping skills. Residents are required to attend AA and/or NA meetings several times a week. War Trauma Focus is designed to provide appropriate circumstances for veterans to re-experience emotional impacts of trauma, understanding recovery, accepting responsibility and coping skills are the primary emphasis.

(Workforce Development - Kona) Provides job training, placement, and case management services for individuals receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) /VR (Vocational Rehabilitation) assistance.

Two main programs make up the foundation of Abilities Unlimited - the Medicaid Waiver Program and the Employment Program: -Medicaid Waiver Program serves individuals with disabilities referred by the State of Hawaii Department of Health Developmental Disabilities Division, offering personal assistance/habilitation services, adult day health services, and employment services for medicaid waiver clients. -Employment Program serves clients referred by the State of Hawaii Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), assisting individuals with disabilities and other barriers to gain and maintain employment. Abilities Unlimited works with DVR clients via contracts: Supported Employment Program and Vocational and Work Adjustment Training Services. (MRTP, Maui Relief TANF Program) The Maui Relief Program is separate from the ongoing TANF cash assistance benefit and has a different application process, eligibility criteria and requirements. The Maui Relief Program is a program that provides benefits to eligible families with dependent children who were directly impacted by the wildfires. The program benefits are not intended to meet a family’s recurring needs and will not extend beyond four (4) months. Survivors are strongly encouraged to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance prior to applying for support through the Maui Relief TANF Program. DHS wants to ensure families maximize available disaster relief efforts. The Program benefits are considered “non-assistance”; therefore, is independent of the DHS’s TANF cash assistance program. The Program benefits are being established solely to address the specific crisis situation and episode of need for families who were directly affected by the wildfire disaster. The Program benefits will be issued as a disaster relief in the form of a lump-sum payment to the family or a direct payment to a vendor such as a landlord, automobile dealership, or a utility company. The Program will help families, with household incomes that do not exceed 350% of the federal poverty level: -secure and pay for short-and long-term housing -make a down payment and pay for a car payment for up to 4 months -secure and pay for utilities for up to 4 months -purchase clothing for eligible family members and school supplies for school-aged children. A family may apply for Maui Relief TANF support based on their current needs and apply later for other remaining support available to the family. This support may be provided in addition to FEMA Individual Assistance if a family has exhausted its FEMA assistance and critical needs still exists. There is no citizenship requirement. Non-federal funds may be available to assist families with dependent children who are not eligible for the federally-funded Program. Applicants will be provided ten (10) days from the date of the request to provide additional information and supporting documents. Applicants must report changes within 10 days of the change occurring. For example, if the support was for a car and the car was sold, then that change must be reported within 10 days.

Assesses client information and circumstances to determine need and/or eligibility for services and benefits. Provides burial assistance benefits including burial, burial allowance, plot or internment allowance, headstone or grave marker, burial flags, presidential memorial certificate, dependency and indemnity compensation and other benefits. Provides escort services including accompanying and personally assisting a client to obtain service. Provides letter writing, letter reading, records repository, notary public, recordation of forms. Will file original documents, specifically DD-214s or equivalent, for clients.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless assists with emergency veterinary care for pets whose owners are experiencing homelessness. If you have limited access to the internet, many public libraries, shelters, and resource centers offer free computer or mobile access. A trusted advocate or case worker may also assist you in completing the application. If approved, we will provide instructions for scheduling care with a participating veterinary clinic. You contribute what you are able to at the appointment, and we help cover the remaining eligible costs. (Aloha Diaper Pantry) The Aloha Diaper Bank supports newborns up to 3 years old who are facing poverty or family crises due to job loss or personal circumstances. Working in collaboration with various local agencies that serve low-income, homeless, and families in crisis, we provide essential diapers and wipes. Families are encouraged to register with one of the partner agencies to receive ongoing support and access other valuable services during challenging times. Additionally, the Aloha Diaper Bank offers a one-time emergency assistance package, including 75 diapers and 2 packs of baby wipes, to address immediate needs.
