(HIPTRC, Hawaii Prevention Resource Center) The Hawaii Prevention and Treatment Resource Center (HIPTRC) houses the state’s most comprehensive resources on substance use prevention, treatment, and related issues available through its lending library, resource clearinghouse, and technical assistance services. Resources include books, brochures, infographics, posters, and other educational materials available for loan or for free distribution. The HIPTRC is open to the general public and provides consultation for service providers, school personnel, and others regarding access to educational resources, training, information, and available services.

Welcomes and accepts volunteers (including high school students, college students, working adults and senior retirees). Volunteers assist Health System employees with acute care, long-term care and geriatric care. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. This service is free, but signing up does not guarantee help. Help depends on volunteer availability and capacity. Priority is given to Kupuna (elderly individuals), people with disabilities or access/functional needs, and households with limited resources.
