(HCAP Administration) Honolulu Community Action Program, Inc. (HCAP) offers a variety of programs and services designed to help Oahu's low-income individuals and families to achieve self-reliance. Programs include Head Start, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), food assistance, employment services, after-school STEM, and individualized case management. HCAP also promotes community development and advocacy through resident advisory councils and private-public volunteer opportunities. The Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) provides food to the needy on the island making food and products available to agency partner distributions sites. KIFB serves homeless, elderly, children and those experiencing temporary emergencies. KIFB also has a vocational rehabilitation program, operates Keiki Cafe and a Backpack Program as well as provides nutrition education assistance. KIFB makes referrals for food to the public (individuals needing food). Referrals are made to the 50 distribution sites throughout Kauai and specifically non-profit member agencies and churches on Kauai.

HomeAid's Kauhale Management Division provides secure, shared housing at Kipuola Kauahale, light case management, job readiness support, and opportunities for education and community engagement primarily for single individuals.  Additional support for mental health resources and counseling referrals, transportation assistance for work or school, and health and wellness programs for residents may be available. Residents have their own "sleeping pod" but share communal space (toilet, shower, kitchen, computer lab, public areas, etc.).  Residents are required to attend weekly or monthly community meetings, help with shared chores to maintain the common areas, follow site policies for safety, treat others with kindness and respect, and stay engaged with job training, education, or personal development activities.

Shelter of Wisdom rents homes which are shared by our men. Men live in double rooms with shared living areas and house chores. We provide intensive case management until our men are accepted into permanent housing. We provide household furnishings for their new homes, which are donated to us by the community. Men must maintain their sobriety, hygiene, medications, meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping and behavior.

The Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center works to educate the community on how to prevent overdose, recognize the signs of overdose, and treat someone experiencing an overdose. The medication Naloxone has proven to stop the effects of opioid overdose and save lives, and is legal to carry in the state of Hawaii. Our naloxone program is free and anonymous, and available on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii Island.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. The Great Aloha Run is an 8.12-mile foot race beginning at Aloha Tower and finishes in the Aloha Stadium. The race financially assists scholarship programs and special projects of selected charitable organizations which serve the community needs in the State of Hawaii.
