Accepts volunteers, ages 16 years of age or older, to assist in any of the 30 departments such as, but not limited to, ER, Pharmacy, Gift Shop, Information Desk, Admitting, Cardiology, Central Supply, Accounting and Human Resources.

The Department of Health Early Intervention Section (EIS) provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers below three years of age with special needs (developmentally delayed or biological risk). Biological risk means having a diagnosis/condition with a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay. Specialists support parents in helping their child develop in the following areas: COMMUNICATION: talking | understanding COGNITIVE: paying attention | solving problems PHYSICAL: sitting | walking | picking up small object SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL: playing with others | having confidence ADAPTIVE: eating | dressing self Family centered care principles guide providers in supporting the child and family. Services are provided within the child's daily routines and activities. A primary service provider and coaching model is used to teach parents and/or primary care givers strategies to support the child's development.

(MIECHV) Partnering with ‘Ohana from pregnancy until kindergarten. ‘Ohana receive weekly home visits where they have the opportunity to grow in positive parenting practices, learn about their child’s development, and build a loving relationship between parent and child. Our Parent Educators provide the Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) programs as a part of the your ‘Ohana Network of the state of Hawai’i. (Community-Based Mentoring Program) Case Managers at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii work with parents, guardians, therapists, counselors, schools, and youth serving organizations to identify and pair under-resourced youth from ages 6 years old and older with one-on-one mentors. Case Managers create an outcome development plan in collaboration with the parent/guardian, child and volunteer. Plans are updated yearly. Youth and their mentors meet 2-3 times per month for a few hours each outing. Outings are selected by the youth. Mentors pick-up their mentees and are responsible for transportation and other costs they incur. Some of the costs are offset by sponsored activities and discounts at partnering companies.

The FTC protects consumers by stopping unfair, deceptive or fraudulent practices in the marketplace. We conduct investigations, sue companies and people that violate the law, develop rules to ensure a vibrant marketplace, and educate consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities. We collect complaints about hundreds of issues from data security and deceptive advertising to identity theft and Do Not Call violations, and make them available to law enforcement agencies worldwide for follow-up.

Promotes the goals of Kauai County which are to support existing industries such as the visitor industry, sugar, retailing, and construction; while encouraging the growth of new industries such as diversified agriculture, aquaculture, film, alternate energy and high technology as potential new sources of employment.

Investigates complaints from dissatisfied consumers and advises those who have landlord and/or tenant problems. Will investigate complaints in the following areas: advertising, art galleries, car rentals, charitable solicitations, collection practices, credit sales, door-to-door sales, health clubs, interest and usury, investment schemes, Made-in-Hawaii goods, refunds and exchanges, unaccredited degree granting institutions, unfair or deceptive trade practices, unsolicited goods, or undisclosed charges.

Maintains a professional organization of fundraising professionals which assists its members and other non-profits through education and mentoring. Offers workshops, materials, annual volunteer awards recognition.

Governs the importation of dogs and cats into Hawaii. Operates the Animal Quarantine Station. Dogs and cats meeting specific pre and post arrival requirements may qualify for 5-day-or-less quarantine or direct release at Honolulu International Airport after inspection. Depending on a pet's rabies vaccination status, it takes between 4 1/2 to 7 months to prepare a pet to qualify for the 5-Day-or-Less program. Dogs and cats not meeting all of the specific 5-Day-Or-Less program requirements are quarantined up to 120 days upon arrival in Hawaii.

(SHEG) A one time, not ongoing financial assistance for households who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness. Single, couples and families. Provides assistance with rent deposit, first month rent, past due rent, utilities when included with rent or if utility assistance prevents homelessness. Utility assistance for renters only. Utilities assistance to prevent the household from losing their housing or prevent homelessness.

Kumu Kahua means "Original stage" or "Platform". Kumu Kahua is a Playwright's Theatre in the State of Hawaii, providing the local community with 35 years of plays written by local playwrights for the community to attend. The 100 seater black box theatre performs five plays during its Season of Shows. Produces theatre oriented towards Hawaii's people, in their multi-ethnic diversity. Acts as a platform for local writers as well as hands-on operation for local actors, directors and theatre technicians. Offers classes in playwriting and acting. Accepts volunteers to assist with fundraising, box office, ushing, threatre technicians and phone duties.

Lanankila Pacific Meals on Wheels SNAP Outreach helps with: -Application assistance - help completing SNAP applications -Benefit applications and renewals - help completing renewals for the SNAP program -Benefit navigation - help with questions on what happened with SNAP applications and renewals SNAP benefits can be used for Lanakila Meals on Wheels - Home Delivery's meal service and fresh produce delivery (The Green Bag).

(VLA) The VLA project focuses on disabled and elderly veterans and family members who are residents of the state of Hawaii and who want assistance with filing benefits claims with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Also offers referrals to volunteer attorneys through VLSH's pro bono program for legal advice and direct services for: Family Law, Tenant Rights, Collections and Bankruptcy, Estate Planning/Probate, Re-Employment and Community Service Program (Oahu only).

(Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)) The Easterseals Hawaii (ESH) Autism Center provides effective, evidence-based, and individualized behavioral therapy and services for individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disabilities and disorders. The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) component of the program often includes intensive Verbal Behavior-Based therapy (VB). Treatment Focus Areas: Communication, Social Skills, Behavior Reduction, Academics and Academics Preparedness, Self-Help and Daily Living. Individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to clients in the Honolulu and Kapolei locations, as well as via telehealth. Our autism services program is designed to help children learn the skills they need to thrive by partnering families with our comprehensive care teams to develop a customized program to meets their unique needs and integrates into their everyday life. Assists persons recovering from mild to catastrophic strokes who may need to make major physical and psychological adjustments to cope with paralysis, speech problems, cognitive deficits, swallowing disorders, and visual perception difficulties. Assesses and treats swallowing disorders. Provides mobility training or wheelchair skills. Develops adaptive techniques and custom-designed equipment. Provides speech theraphy. Computer therapy for visual, perceptual, and cognitive training. Stroke Support Group meets every first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 am - 11:30 am at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. Everyone (patient, family, caregivers, etc.) is welcome, there is no membership fee.

(Workforce Development - Kona) Provides job training, placement, and case management services for individuals receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) /VR (Vocational Rehabilitation) assistance.

Maintains official inventory of state lands and acquires land for public purposes including schools, parks, airports, libraries. Land not set aside for public purposes is auctioned for sale, lease or month-to-month tenancies. Refers survey and boundary questions to Department of Accounting and General Services Survey Division. Issues permits for beach weddings on state land.

The Taxpayers Voice for a safe and beautiful community. The West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 to provide an organized voice of support for public and private improvements which have potential benefit for the West Maui community from Lahaina to Kapalua. WMTA was founded to assure that West Maui would receive its fair share of tax-funded improvements by state and county governments. WMTA has been at work on these improvements for over 40 years. Represents taxpayers' interests to the government. Welcomes individual and business members and inquiries from the general public. Schedules public education forums dealing with issues and proposed laws to advance responsible action.

(SNAP Employment and Training Program) Provides skills training, job readiness training, job placement, education/training support, and case management services.

(Steadfast Pacific) Acquires, develops, owns, and manages permanent supported housing suitable for occupancy by persons in Hawaii with chronic mental illness, also known as SMI (Seriously Mentally Ill). Operates 29 group homes (including duplex units) and 6 condominium units. All clients are being provided with mental health supportive services at the Community Mental Health Centers.
