Common Grace facilitates partnerships between public elementary schools and nearby neighborhood churches in order to provide mentors for at-risk children. Volunteers goes through our basic training seminar that we have through out the school year. We look for mentors that have willing and loving hearts ready to be a friend to the kids at the local elementary school.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. The Golden West Chapter’s evidence based wraparound model of care combines coordinated, customized medical care and community and home-based services and support. The Chapter’s proven Excellence in ALS Care Initiative encompasses all key elements of our Care Services program which are focused on ensuring proactive, expert multidisciplinary care. In addition to providing direct services, we simultaneously engage the ALS community in activities that accelerate the search for effective treatments and cures. The Chapter’s Care Services program is an evidence based “wraparound model of care” that combines fully coordinated and individualized medical care with community and home-based services and support. This model is clinically proven to help people live longer and better with ALS, as it addresses the medical, social, emotional, and financial challenges they face. The Chapter’s approach in the state of Hawaii is unduplicated and tailored for each client and their loved ones. For example, Care Managers help clients and their loved ones access information and resources in their communities, connect with clinicians who specialize in ALS, obtain durable medical equipment and augmentative communication devices available through the Chapter’s Equipment Loan Program, understand and navigate insurance benefits, provide guidance around home modification, help find professional caregivers, and connect with others living with ALS. And if people with ALS and their loved ones have concerns about anything else related to this disease, our Care Managers are there to help.

The Friends' mission is to generate community support for cancer research and education to prevent and reduce cancer-related deaths as well as improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with cancer. The Friends organization was established to support the Cancer Center in their quest to prevent and find cures for cancer in Hawaii. This includes the Center’s education and outreach programs for those battling cancer, and family and friends who care or are caregivers. The Friends respond to and fulfill the UH Cancer Center's need for private funds to supplement federal and state resources by coordinating fundraising events and conducting an annual friendship drive to give people like you the opportunity to play a vital role in the fight against cancer. (SFHV, Strong Families Home Visits) This program provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate professional and paraprofessional home visitation services to families with children ages birth to 3 years old. Program participants are referred by Child Welfare Services, Voluntary Case Management, or Family Strengthening Services programs. Service interventions reduce child abuse and neglect risks, increase family self-sufficiency, address family stressors, and improve child adjustment and achievement. Domestic Violence Services for Families offers a full spectrum of individual, group and family services to men, women and children to aid in the intervention and prevention of domestic violence in families and to strengthen child resilience and overall wellbeing. Service that are available include: -A Comprehensive Basic Assessment including a Trauma Assessment as needed -Risk Assessment -Crisis Management -Safety Planning -Development of a Comprehensive Service Plan -Individual, group and/or family counseling and support for each referred family member -Supervised visitation/exchanges and/or therapeutic visitation -Support Services and outreach which may include but are not limited to case management, resource linkages, domestic violence advocacy, temporary restraining order support, and in-home visits to educated about parenting and life skills

Provides temporary part-time employment and on-the-job training opportunities for Hawaii Island seniors 55 years of age or older who meet all program eligibility requirements. Services include job counseling/development, information and referral, and job placement in community service-oriented host agencies, which provide senior enrollees with current work experience, references, and new skills. Designed to assist the senior enrollees to make the transition from federally subsidized jobs back into the main workforce.

Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation offers assistance to for individuals experiencing financial hardships to help them keep their pets. This helps reduce the number of animals surrendered to shelters due to lack of resources and ensures that pets can stay with their families. Services include help with pet food, temporary foster care, etc.

Imi Ola Piha is a community-based mental health stabilization and medicated-assisted substance use detox treatment center. If a potential client is located outside of Oahu, CM/intake works with referral source for transport to and from the location.

(VISTA, Volunteer in Service to America) Volunteers can serve as a VISTA, a VISTA leader, or a VISTA summer associate. AmeriCorps VISTA members build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve full time for one-year terms. Leaders work to expand and build the capacity of individual AmeriCorps VISTA members and their service sites. AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders have previously served a full term of full-time service with any AmeriCorps program or with Peace Corps, and have demonstrated exemplary skills and leadership in community service. The AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program offers individuals the opportunity to become engaged in a community through an existing AmeriCorps VISTA project for 8, 9, or 10 weeks during the summer.

(HYOC) Established in 1961, we are Hawaii's longest running community youth choir. We offer a full spectrum of music education, open to all students, grades k-12 throughout Oahu. Students participate through weekly involvement, Saturday Programs, or outreach and festival programs. Participants range from absolute beginners to advanced vocalists. We produce, on average, 20 - 30 concerts per year, half of which are free to the public including music concerts in elderly care facilities and other community venues. HYOC helps to foster the personal and social growth of its members and promotes their self-esteem, as well as giving children a lifetime of music appreciation. We invite you to learn more about HYOC and how our young musicians are building a lifetime of music and arts participation. The chorus was started when our sister organization, Hawaii Opera Theatre (HOT), needed a children's chorus for one of their productions. The relationship with HOT is maintained to this day and when children are needed for their opera productions in the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall they come from HYOC. Music Festivals HYOC produces Choral Festivals specifically for the Elementary aged student (E Mele Kakou) and the advanced treble middle school singer (Na Leo Pili Mai). Each school and community choir is given an experience of basic musical concepts, vocal technique, hula and are invited to share their music with all attendees as well as the opportunity to sing with an orchestra in the beautiful acoustics of Kawaiaha’o Church. In collaboration with ACDA-HI (American Choral Director’s Association-Hawai’i Chapter), HYOC sponsors and participates in the High School Choral Festival (Na Leo Hou). In addition to learning great choral music, weekly classes in theory and hula are taught. Optional classes in piano and voice are also offered. Students must be enrolled as singing members to participate in optional classes. Most importantly we offer young people the opportunity to learn, have fun and make friendships that last a lifetime.
