Type I (also known as Werdnig-Hoffman disease, or infantile-onset SMA) is evident at birth or within the first few months. Symptoms include floppy limbs and trunk, feeble movements of the arms and legs, swallowing difficulties, a weak sucking reflex, and impaired breathing. Type II (also known as juvenile SMA, intermediate SMA, or chronic SMA), has an onset between 6 and 18 months. Legs tend to be more impaired than arms. Children with Type II are usually able to sit without support if placed in position. Some may be able to stand or walk with help. Type III (also called Wolhlfart-Kugelberg-Welander disease, or mild SMA) can begin as early as the toddler years or as late as adolescence. Children can stand alone and walk, but may have difficulty getting up from a sitting position. There is also a less common Type IV form of the disease that affects adults and is characterized by a slower progression of symptoms that particularly affect walking. Symptoms typically emerge after age 35. There is no cure for SMA. Treatment consists of managing the symptoms and preventing complications. |

Spondyloarthritis |
YF-3000.0800-800 |
Spondyloarthritis is a type of arthritis that attacks the spine and, in some people, the joints of the arms and legs. It can also involve the skin, intestines and eyes. The main symptom (what you feel) in most patients is low back pain. This occurs most often in axial spondyloarthritis. In a minority of patients, the major symptom is pain and swelling in the arms and legs. This type is known as peripheral spondyloarthritis. People in their teens and 20s, particularly males, are affected most often. Family members of those with spondyloarthritis are at higher risk. Many people with axial spondyloarthritis progress to having some degree of spinal fusion, known as ankylosing spondylitis. This more often strikes young males. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (commonly called NSAIDs) offer symptom relief for most patients by reducing pain and swelling. Other medicines called biologics, including anti-TNF drugs (TNF blockers) and anti-IL-17 drugs (IL-17 blockers) are effective in patients who do not respond well enough to NSAIDs. Newer treatments have helped a great deal in controlling symptoms. Frequent fitness activities and back exercises are important in managing the symptoms of spondyloarthritis. |

Stage/Floor Managers |

Individuals who provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the process of producing a play or filming a television program. Key responsibilities of stage managers (floor managers in the television industry) are scheduling and running rehearsals, communicating the director's wishes to designers and crafts people, coordinating the work of the stage crew, calling cues and actors' entrances during performance/filming and, in the case of stage productions, overseeing the entire show each time it is performed. They record the director's decisions about blocking, light, sound and set change cues and notes for the actors in a master copy of the script called the prompt book and then use the prompt book to run the technical rehearsals, calling each technical cue in turn to determine precisely how it needs to be timed to coordinate with the onstage action. Floor managers of television productions make sure the cast, crew and guests are ready for filming. They also schedule rehearsals, manage props and technical cues, provide the cast and crew with timing signals and lay out any marks the actors or hosts need to hit (this is known as "blocking"). If there is a set, the floor manager sees that the set is torn down when the show is finished, (also known as "striking" the set). |
