We provide comprehensive training to ensure volunteers are prepared to support animals in a meaningful way, whether through hands-on care, helping at adoption events, or educating the public about animal welfare.
Humane Society - Hawaii Island

The Humane Society Hawaii Island (HIHS) provides shelter, food, licensing, adoption and euthanasia services for animals picked up by HIHS humane officers or brought in by private owners. Offers certificate for spaying/neuterig animals three times a year. Recruits and trains volunteers to care for the animals, work in the office and represent the Humane Society at community events. Also accepts birds that the public drop off for West Nile testing.
Helping Dogs in Need
(K9 Kokua) K9 Kokua provides direct outreach to dogs of the houseless on Oahu and Maui, persons affected by domestic violence, including kupuna and veterans facing hardship. Services include veterian care resources, wellness checks for dogs, owner education, assistance through housing transitions. Fostering available for person affected by dometic violence. K9 Kokua is an all volunteer agency. Volunteers are accepted for everything from writing thank you cards to direct outreach services.
Fur-Angel Foster-care Program
Become a foster family and offer a loving home to an abandoned or houseless dog. Fur-Angel Foundation provides basic supplies and medical care. You transport your foster to appointments and love him/her as your own! Fostering timeframe can vary from a minimum of 30 days to potentially a few months, depending on each individual circumstance.

Provides a Community Pet Spay-Neuter and I.D. Program, Pet Lost and Found Services, low cost vaccination clinics, pet food bank, Assistance with Neighborhood Animal Issues by educating animal owners about their responsibilities caring for a pet and investigating animal law violations, Pet Adoptions, Emergency Sheltering Services for pets, Pet Boarding Services and quarantine boarding services for new residents moving to the island, Animal Rescues and Cruelty Investigations, Pet Support Services, Pet Loss Grief Counseling and Cremation Services, Foster Care, Humane Education, Volunteer Program, Hawaii Dept. of Agriculture approved Direct Release Program for animals arriving from the mainland at Lihue Airport, Save Our Shearwaters rescue and rehab of endangered seabirds. Off-leash small and large dog park available to the public.
Hawaiian Humane Society

Maintains temporary shelter for homeless animals. Provides animal adoption service. Offers humane euthanasia ill animals; investigates reports of cruelty and/or complaints on animals; dog licensing; humane education; and lost and found. Administers City and County reduced-rate Neuter Now program. Inspects pet shops, stables, etc. Accepts donations of running automobiles. Offers information to animal-related questions. Provides a list of 125 Oahu beaches that allow or restrict dogs (via the internet). Accepts birds that the public drops off for West Nile testing. Also takes public complaints about barking dogs.
Boo Boo Zoo, The

(The Boo Boo Zoo) Provides treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured, sick, and orphaned animals. Rescues and cares for animals in distress. Average on site numbers 400 animals including dogs, cats, goats, sheep, cow, horses, deer, fowl, birds. Even if we aren't facilitated to intake an animal still call. We can help, advise or direct you to a source. Staff are all volunteers, donations are sole support.
