The Arc of Hilo

Provides services for individuals with disabilities. Waiver services include Adult Day Health (ADH), Personal Assistance (PA),Community Learning Service (CLS), and Employment Training. Hands-on vocational training in Commercial Services Department in janitorial,laundry, grounds keeping, event planning (conferences, meeting, etc.), as well as other possible vocational areas.

Home Care Services

Provides a wide range of nursing services, physical and speech therapy, medical social worker, personal care attendants, companions and escort services. Care may be intermittent or on-going.

Kokua Care Foundation Charitable Care Services

We provide in-home care services which include companionship, light housekeeping, cooking, supervision, Activities of Daily Living; including bathing, toileting, transfer assistance, dressing, feeding, and grooming, and various other duties as determined by the assessment. Kokua Care Foundation Charitable Care Services (KCFCCS) provides these care services at no charge to qualified individuals, and at-cost services for individuals who are unable to qualify for the program, but have shown the need for service. These services are provided by Kokua Care.

St. Francis Health Services for Senior Citizens, in partnership with the City and County of Honolulu’s Elderly Affairs Division, provides bathing and personal grooming services for Oahu’s frail elders. We come to your home to provide baths or personal care services, with priority given to those with low incomes living in rural areas. St. Francis Healthcare System offers the following services for older adults: Baths, showers and shampoos in bed, tub or shower Routine nail, skin and hair care Oral care Shaving Changing bed linens

Home Maintenance Program

The Home Maintenance Program does home improvements in partnership with family and community volunteers. When the project is completed, there is a 1-7 year “0” interest loan. The loan payments collected go into a revolving fund used to fund future home maintenance projects. Projects include installation of ramps and rails, stair repair, fence repair, gutter replacement, solar water heaters, appliance replacement, minor electrical and plumbing, window replacement, and termite treatment.

Special Education Center of Hawaii

Provides individual and family support, which promotes successful community living in the lifestyle of choice and which respects personal preferences, appreciates individual differences and preserves privacy and dignity to people with developmental disabilities, or acquired disabilities due to aging or head injury. Supports may include day service, personal assistance, habilitation, respite, skilled nursing or medically fragile case management.

Personal Care Program

Refers personal care attendants (PCAs) to disabled adults and frail elderly for in-home care and/or chores. Offers subsidies for PCA care fees only.
