COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT SERVICES We provide a wide array of comprehensive assessments that include the following types: DUI or OVUII, SAP, First Time Offender Assessments (Act 230/44), and SAA. We work with the Division of Drivers Education, The Judiciary - Adult Client Services, the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Employers to provide needed alcohol and substance abuse assessments for individuals who are required to obtain one for various reasons. KSS can provide interpreter services as needed. ? Examples of reasons for needing or being required to obtain an assessment include but is not limited too: individuals that are found operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant (OVUII), or driving while under the influence (DUI), having failed or refused a urinalysis test under the direction of their employer (these types mostly fall under the requirement of a needing a Substance Abuse Professional SAP assessment), and/or are required to obtain an assessment per the terms and conditions of

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church provides a food pantry for those in need. Dates are subject to change please call for information. For holidays the pantry is usually on Thursday the week before the holiday.

(The Maui Farm) The Family Strengthening Program is a farm-based residential program providing transitional housing and life skills training for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic violence and economic issues. With a focus on the whole family, the program provides opportunities for daily learning and application of healthy life skills and effective parenting strategies in a safe home environment, and strengthens families to remain intact and healthy. Working in collaboration with partner agencies including Women Helping Women and other homeless services provider agencies, The Maui Farm’s services strengthen the continuum of care for struggling families. We provide a housing and family strengthening component after emergency shelter services have been maximized, and before families move on to long-term affordable housing in the community. The average duration of program participation is six to eighteen months. Shared housing is provided on-site at The Maui Farm, with monthly rental fees determined in compliance with federal HOME Program regulations.

Cancer Survivors Network: Online community created for survivors and caregivers to connect with others, visit www.cancer.org Gift Items: A limited supply of wigs, hats, turbans, scarves and breast prostheses are available by appointment. These items are received by the local offices by donations from others and through our TLC Catalog. Support Groups: The office is a clearinghouse of information on local self-help and support groups that provide emotional and educational help. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring, and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music and dance, seasonal activities and crafts, excursions and swimming. Offers weekly individual or group counseling focused on teaching independent living skills for youth aged 12 to 25. Maintains a training apartments from young men aged 17.5 to 19 who are in transition from foster care, group homes, shelters or institutions and also a home for young women transitioning out of foster care to independent living (training apartment participants are expected to have jobs and pay for rent and food). Also a home for pregnant and parenting teens.

Assists Swiss citizens visiting or living in Hawaii (medical problems, legal issues, etc.). Provides information for potential visitors to Switzerland.

Recruits businesses, firehouses, agencies, etc. in the community as Safe Places, identified by easily recognized yellow and black diamond shaped signs. Any youth can go to a Safe Place for help. A trained worker at the Safe Place will talk to the youth to determine the immediate problem and act in the youth's behalf.

PATCH, Hawaii's Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, supports those with childcare needs. PATCH provides referrals to licensed child care across the state, information on how to identify and choose quality child care, and resources to support the family, such as subsidy programs and services available in the community. In addition, the Child Care Recruitment Project offers support and guidance to individuals who are interested in opening their own childcare business.
