(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, Maritime Heritage Program, Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, The National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa) Operates a visitor center where people can receive more information about the marine sanctuary program in Hawaii and other sites nationwide: Maritime Heritage Program, Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument as a protected area of coral reef, Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, The National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa and more.

Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service.

Offers career and employment counseling. Provides career planning and employment preparation. Offers work experience referrals and career and employment workshop activities.

Operates Hale Ho`ike`ike at the Bailey House and museum shop on the road to `Iao Valley. Displays ancient Hawaiian artifacts and missionary memorabilia in the 1830s home of Edward Bailey. Also on display are 17 oil paintings by Bailey dating to 1860.

Represents beekeepers at legislature. Sponsors workshops, classes and meetings periodically. Removes swarms of bees (including honey bees, wasps, and/or hornets).

(Hawaii County PAL) Provides athletic programs and counseling for children under 17 years of age who have behavioral problems and tending towards crime.

Collects State taxes. Provides information and assistance on preparation of tax forms. Issues general excise tax licenses. Furnishes State tax forms.

Ensures that members of the uniformed services do not lose their jobs and other employment benefits because of military service.

Enforces liquor laws of Hawaii and the Liquor Control Commission's rules and regulations. Processes all applications for liquor licenses. Issues on & off-premise managers' cards.

The participants from 33 program sites receive a day filled with activities and excitement with a positive message on staying “Drug Free”. Participants learn the important values in self-esteem, nature lessons, social enhancement skills, utilizing creativity, teamwork and the importance of Staying Drug Free. Topics also include anti-gang violence and anti-bullying.

(Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission) The Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) was established by the Hawai'i State Legislature in 1993 to manage the Kaho'olawe Island Reserve while held in trust for a future Native Hawaiian sovereign entity. The KIRC has pledged to provide for the meaningful and safe use of Kaho'olawe for the purpose of the traditional and cultural practices of the native Hawaiian people and to undertake the restoration of the island and its waters. Its mission is to implement the vision for Kaho'olawe Island in which the kino (body) of Kaho'olawe is restored and na poe o Hawai'i (the people of Hawaii) care for the land.

PATCH, Hawaii's Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, supports those with childcare needs. PATCH provides referrals to licensed child care across the state, information on how to identify and choose quality child care, and resources to support the family, such as subsidy programs and services available in the community. In addition, the Child Care Recruitment Project offers support and guidance to individuals who are interested in opening their own childcare business.
