MFCU's jurisdiction over Medicaid Fraud consists largely of provider theft of Medicaid funds through deceptive claims made with the state Medicaid program. Some types of deceptive claims are: -claims for services not rendered -multiple claims for a single service or supply -billing at a higher rate than permitted for the service or supply provided MFCU's jurisdiction over abuse consists largely or pysical violence, neglect, and financial exploitation of dependent adults committed by Medicaid providers, care facilities, and paid caregivers. MFCU is authorized to proceed criminally and/or civilly. MFCU's jurisdiction over civil false Medicaid claims consists largely of unlawful provider activity that results in inappropriate claims from the Medicaid program.

The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities. ADH participants have a full-range of activities to choose from including: the option to go on daily excursions, enjoy art programs, volunteer in the community, attend computer classes with the aid of assistive technology, learn money skills, participate in weekly hula classes or give back to the community through recycling programs. This model is clinically proven to help people live longer and better with ALS, as it addresses the medical, social, emotional, and financial challenges they face. The Humane Society Hawaii Island (HIHS) provides shelter, food, licensing, adoption and euthanasia services for animals picked up by HIHS humane officers or brought in by private owners. Offers certificate for spaying/neuterig animals three times a year. Recruits and trains volunteers to care for the animals, work in the office and represent the Humane Society at community events. Also accepts birds that the public drop off for West Nile testing.

The national Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) is a program of the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) administered by Vibrant Emotional Health (formerly the Mental Health Association of New York City) that offers 24/7 crisis counseling and emotional support to anyone in the US/territories experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to natural or human-caused disasters. Callers and texters are connected to trained counselors from a network of independently-operated crisis centers across the country. Services are available to people who are Deaf or hard of hearing via the DDH Videophone for American Sign Language (ASL) users. The DDH also offers peer support communities through private Facebook groups where people across the U.S. impacted by disasters can connect with others from similar backgrounds/experiences for mutual aid and support during recovery. Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation offers assistance to for individuals experiencing financial hardships to help them keep their pets. This helps reduce the number of animals surrendered to shelters due to lack of resources and ensures that pets can stay with their families. Services include help with pet food, temporary foster care, etc.

We provide child growth and development information and positive parenting education to families.
