(DHHL Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program, Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program) The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) and the Hawaiian Council program to help eligible kupuna on the DHHL waitlist pay rent. Renters pay up to 30% of their total household income towards rent and the program may help with the remaining cost. Up to 12 months of rent subsidies with the option to renew based on available funds.

Habitat for Humanity Maui follows the principals of Habitat for Humanity International by selling homes to low income families at a no interest and no profit basis. They serve families that are between 25% and 80% of the median income for Maui County. Families are required to attend homeowner education classes, budget counseling and credit counseling. Offers counseling and support services for children who have been sexually abused or molested by non-family members. Provides confidential group and individual counseling for adults molested as children.

The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs and up to 24 months at the Transitional Apartments. Transitional Housing Program provides housing for victims who need safety and support and are ready to go to school/work.
