(LMPC) The Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center (LMPC) provides social, recreational, educational, cultural and health activities with the overall goal of helping seniors remain independent and preventing premature institutionalization. Classes in Arts and Crafts, Cooking, Cribbage and other board games, Dance (Chinese, Hula, Korean, Yui Buyo) , Digital Technology, Gardening, Guitar, Hanafuda, Japanese Calligraphy, Line Dancing, Mah Jong, Pickleball, Ping Pong, Language Classes (ASL, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish), Sewing, Stretch and Tone, Tai Chi, Taisho Koto, Yoga, and many more classes. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Easterseals Hawaii provides individualized early intervention services to children under 3 with or at risk for developmental delays and their families. Services include: Development of an Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP); Parent coaching and family support; Developmental evaluations; Resources, information, and referral services; Assistance to families in transition planning for their child’s transition into the Department of Education special education, Head Start or preschool. Treatment Focus Areas: Cognitive; Language and Communication; Physical; Development; Social and Emotional; Adaptive/Self Care. Program focuses on building a support team for the family and assisting them in meeting challenges via parent coaching and building a foundation of tools and strategies that parents need to support their child’s growth and participation in their community.

Basic dental hygiene and other optional procedures are rendered based on clinical and professional judgment of students and faculty. Basic procedures include oral examination and charting, scaling and polishing of teeth, and patient education. Since this part of the dental hygiene curriculum is to provide teaching-learning experiences, the Department reserves the right to select patients and the type of procedures to be rendered; and to refuse individuals who do not meet the teaching criteria. It should be emphasized that full dental service is not available and service is limited to procedures in dental hygiene.

Provides an array of family skill building, child abuse and neglect prevention services within the Kalihi. Both Centers offer information and referral. Both Family Centers focus on parents, school and community involvement to work together to improve academic achievement for children. The Center also offers opportunities to prevent homelessness, promote literacy and English language skills, and build employment skills through volunteer opportunities. Special Needs Classroom Outreach Program is aimed at young people who are physically and mentally challenged. The objective is developing social, learning and motor skills through program activities and highlighted with a special camp out. The camp out is a very exciting time for students because they participate in activities that normal children participate in. The teachers and volunteers have viewed this activity as very positive. The youth are provided a means of achievement and recognition, personal development, self-help and self-esteem. KAMP Hawaii personnel have a proud working and friendly relationship with students, volunteers and teachers.

(Ohana Finding) Family Finding is a process designed to identify, locate and engage family members of children and youth who are in foster care. Family Finding utilizes database case mining and internet searches to identify and locate family and other possible relatives. Individuals who are identified as possible relatives are verified via phone contact and/or letters, and names of confirmed family members are compiled onto maternal and paternal family lists. These lists are then submitted to Child Welfare Services (CWS), the GAL, and the EPIC Ohana Conference coordinator or the Ohana Connections specialist to assist them in engaging relatives to help care for, provide support for, or reconnect to the child in care. Our Child Protection Center (CPC) is the state leader in identifying, treating and helping children and families recover from child abuse. Founded in 1969 in collaboration with the State of Hawaii, the CPC has been helping Hawaii’s children for over 45 years.
