(Domestic Violence Advocacy) Families who are enrolled in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Temporary Assistance to Other Needy Families (more commonly known as “welfare”), are required to be engaged in activities that will ultimately lead them to self-sufficiency. Program recipients for whom issues of safety and domestic violence are interfering with their progress can call upon Domestic Violence Advocacy to help them find support to change their situations. Services include: assessment, service planning, counseling services, case management and linkage and referral. Provides client advocacy for women referred by Department of Human Services (DHS) in need of case management and support to leave domestic violent relationships. Six month time period given to provide victims the opportunity to gain focus and perspective of their personal goals and career choice.

Kokua Harvest is Hawaii Island’s food rescue project. We prevent food waste at its source, build community resilience and connection, and strengthen access to healthy, nutrient-dense fresh fruit and vegetables. We harvest and distribute excess produce to low-income communities throughout Hawaii Island. Through the act of rescuing and sharing food, we connect and nourish our community to build stronger relationships and a deeper appreciation for food. Food rescue (also known as “gleaning”) is the ancient tradition of collecting excess fresh food from farms, gardens, restaurants, or other sources and donating it to those in need. It is a successful model for reducing the waste of valuable produce, and it gives low-income individuals access to fresh and locally-grown foods that are not always available in their communities. Hawaii is fortunate to have a year-round growing season and a long cultural tradition of sharing and growing food. Still, every year thousands of pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables go to waste on farms large and small. Backyard fruit trees and excess garden produce also go unharvested. (Food Pantry) Huelo Door of Faith Church provides packages of nutritious meals to residents of the North Shore community and persons with disabilities.

(Kauikeaouli Hale Access to Justice Room) The Honolulu District Court Access to Justice Room will provide legal help to the Oahu community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Hawaii State Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Boys and Girls Clubs of Maui operates a drop-in service facility for youth ages 6 years old to 18 years old, if enrolled in high school. Programs and activities include: character and leadership; healthy lifestyles; sports, fitness, and recreation; education; and workforce development.

Treats children with communication disorders whose needs can be met most effectively through a home therapy program and who are not eligible to receive therapy services through any other agency or program. Provides parent training in a home situation so that therapy is on-going. Works in close coordination with public and private agencies that provide services to children with communication disorders. Public service announcements and programs produced outside of Olelo's facilities may also be submitted for cablecasting, provided they are sponsored by a local resident or organization. Provides confidential crisis intervention, legal system advocacy/ support, counseling, and medical services for sexual assault victims. Victims choose whether to report to police. Staff will be present at police interview if desired. Prevention education to schools and community also available. Also provides counseling services to anyone who has been sexually assaulted at anytime.

(Na Kia i O Maui, Lahaina Resource and Recovery Center) Na Kia i O Maui provides household goods, furniture, daily essentials, and nonperishable food to fire survivors of Lahaina and Upcountry Maui and March 2026 Kona Low flood survivors. Molokai Alternatives to Violence is a program to address domestic violence issues for perpetrators. Please call for further information and assistance.

Provides short and long-term nursing care for elderly and handicapped persons at a reasonable cost. Provides 68 bed secured Alzheimer units and respite services. Offers full range of social, emotional, spiritual and physical activities and transportation. Offers physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy six days a week.

(Family Center and Immigrant Resource Center, Family and Economic Opportunity Center, C-BASED program, Competency-BASED Community School Diploma Program, Competency BASED Community School Diploma Program) The Economic Opportunity Center (EOC) provides workforce development, job readiness training, and financial literacy training for families and individuals who are underemployed or unemployed. EOC helps clients develop their potential, provides technical assistance, and assists in removing personal barriers to employment through one-on-one coaching. EOC partners with local employers to provide pipelines to employment for underserved workers.

Operates special programs including agriculture education and training, employment services, family development and case management, and Head Start.

(Hawaii Baptist Academy) Hawaii Baptist Academy's (HBA) elementary program serves more than 400 students from junior kindergarten through sixth grade in Nuuanu. The expanded curriculum meets the individual needs of each student through hands-on learning and enrichment activities which include: Bible, reading, writing, math, social studies, science, PE, STEM, art, music, and more. Developing Christian values is integrated through classroom to all of campus life.

Provides adult education opportunities for people working towards high school diplomas (GED). Offers classes in citizenship, languages, and special interests such as arts, crafts, sports and cooking.
