Receives reports of dead dogs and cats on highways and other public areas. Arranges for disposal.

The national Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) is a program of the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) administered by Vibrant Emotional Health (formerly the Mental Health Association of New York City) that offers 24/7 crisis counseling and emotional support to anyone in the US/territories experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to natural or human-caused disasters. Callers and texters are connected to trained counselors from a network of independently-operated crisis centers across the country. Services are available to people who are Deaf or hard of hearing via the DDH Videophone for American Sign Language (ASL) users. The DDH also offers peer support communities through private Facebook groups where people across the U.S. impacted by disasters can connect with others from similar backgrounds/experiences for mutual aid and support during recovery. United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawai‘i runs an island-wide (O‘ahu only) donation pick-up service, and the reusable clothing and small household items collected are sold to Savers thrift store. While providing funding for our programs, we’re also able to help reduce the burden on the landfills as well. Donated goods are recycled rather than discarded.

The Armed Services YMCA has proudly served Hawaii-based military and their family members since 1917. These centers offer a variety of programs, activities, and services. Programs are also available at a number of additional outreach centers. Please call for more information.
