(Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) investigates and prosecutes provider fraud involving medical assistance programs, as well as patient abuse and neglect statewide. MFCU's jurisdiction over Medicaid Fraud consists largely of provider theft of Medicaid funds through deceptive claims made with the state Medicaid program. Some types of deceptive claims are: -claims for services not rendered -multiple claims for a single service or supply -billing at a higher rate than permitted for the service or supply provided MFCU's jurisdiction over abuse consists largely or pysical violence, neglect, and financial exploitation of dependent adults committed by Medicaid providers, care facilities, and paid caregivers. MFCU is authorized to proceed criminally and/or civilly. MFCU's jurisdiction over civil false Medicaid claims consists largely of unlawful provider activity that results in inappropriate claims from the Medicaid program.

(Ho'omau Ke Ola - HKO) Hoomau Ke Ola operates a culture-based substance abuse treatment center providing residential, outpatient, and aftercare levels of care along with transitional housing, case management services, individual and group counseling, family education, and vocational education. Using cross-cultural perspectives to the healing of addiction, Hoomau Ke Ola clients participate in outdoor activities that include restoration of Hawaiian agricultural land, service to the community, hula and canoeing.

Surfrider Spirit Sessions is a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that mentors at risk and adjudicated youths. Our 8 week mentoring program surrounds adjudicated and at risk youths with positive adult and peer role models and uses a unique combination of Hawaiian culture, environmental awareness, surfing, eco-therapy, socialization, mentoring and educational activities to help teens develop new skills, enhance self-esteem, embrace new modes of thinking and break their cycle of errant behavior. Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) provides supportive services to meet the immediate and urgent needs of visitors to Hawaii Island who are victimized by crime, have medical emergencies, or suffer other adversities during their stay. Immediate needs may include assistance with canceling credit cards, providing emergency transportation, or garnering resources (soliciting donations) for food and lodging. (Wendys Wonderful Kids - Adoption Services) Wendy’s Wonderful Kids offers proactive, child-focused recruitment of adoptive families for children who have been placed in long-term foster care. Sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation, this unique program provides intensive social work services to find the best adoptive home for a child by exploring all facets of the child’s family, school, and friendship circles, as well as recruiting families from the broader community. Goals: • Increase the number of foster children placed with loving, adoptive or guardianship families in Hawaii • Develop supportive and warm relationships with children waiting to be adopted/legal guardianship • Provide information and resources to prospective and adoptive/guardianship parents • Increase community awareness of foster care adoption • Streamline the adoption process • Improve the quality of life for children in the permanent care of the Hawaii • State Department of Human Services by providing a “forever” family in Hawaii
