Susannah Wesley Community Center (SWCC) volunteers serve as a welcoming point of contact for neighbors seeking support. Volunteers help with food assistance, diapers, sorting donations for the free store, and being personal shoppers in the free store.

(Hawaii Baptist Academy Preschool at GracePoint) Hawaii Baptist Academy (HBA) at GracePoint allows the children to grow at their own individual rates of development. We provide a variety of hands-on experiences to help children not only develop their basic concepts, but to also develop a positive sense of self concept, self-confidence and self-esteem. By building sound social and emotional skills the children are better able to become successful in their academic growth. The program is based on sound principles of child development and early childhood education. At HBA Preschool at GracePoint, we believe that the children learn best by doing. Learning requires active thinking, experimenting and firsthand experience to find out how things work and to learn about the world. At school we focus on the process rather than the product in the work that the young learners render. We see play and hands-on experiences as the foundation for academic or “school” learning. We believe in developing the whole child.

Makes grants available to assist patients afford medication, transportation, emergency transient dialysis, special diet needs, etc. Publishes many brochures about kidney diseases and its treatment.

Provides opportunities and manages facilities for non-organized, outdoor, aquatic recreational activities such as sportfishing, underwater photography and studying aquatic life. Operates and stocks freshwater public fishing areas on Hawaii, Kauai and Oahu. Shoreline Fishery Management monitors accidental introduction of foreign aquatic species. Develops and manages statewide system of artificial reefs to enhance sportfishing species.

Perinatal support services provides case management services to women who receive their prenatal care at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) from the time they enter prenatal care until 3 months postpartum. Perinatal support services also offers prenatal classes to pregnant women and their partners in the Waianae community.

(TTP) The Toddler Program is a non-profit, Christian early education program providing for preschool-aged children aged 2-5 years. Programs for the school year, after school care and summer available.

A stimulating tour through three historic buildings helps museum visitors discover how a small group of New England missionaries – who came to the islands in 1820 – worked with the Native Hawaiians to introduce Christianity, to develop a written language, public education, western medicine and representative government.

Funds and administers Food Stamp, National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Child and Adult Care Food, and Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children. Strives to improve the nutritional status of low-income children and adults. Responsible for authorizing retailers to accept food stamp benefits and coordinates educational efforts with authorized stores. Does not distribute food stamps or take applications.

Provides protective services to abused, neglected, or financially exploited dependent adults, 18 years and older. Takes action, with client consent, to prevent further abuse from occurring. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.

Issues permits for hiking, hunting, taking of plants from reserve areas. Sells seedlings for Christmas trees, reforestation and wind breaks. Manages public hunting areas, public hiking areas, forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, and natural area reserves. Accepts reports of forest pests, including new and unusual weeds and certain birds. Pest reports accepted include: wild pigs, snakes, large lizards, ferrets, the banana poka (a weed), the bulbul (a bird) on neighbor islands, and the mongoose on Kauai.

The Manoa Heritage Center is committed to preserving and interpreting the heiau, the Native Hawaiian garden, the historic home and the natural and cultural history of Manoa Valley for future generations. Volunteer opportunities to lead tours through botanical gardens that surround the historic home and ancient heiau. Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

Helps veterans and their family members make a satisfying post-war readjustment to civilian life through a broad range of counseling and outreach. Helps women and men veterans work through sexual trauma experienced in the military. Offers both individual and group counseling for post-traumatic stress, substance abuse and crisis intervention. Provides assistance in obtaining veterans' benefits.

Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

This CDC-recognized program is a year-long structured lifestyle change program that includes dietary coaching and moderate physical activity, all with the goal of preventing or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes among those who are at high risk for diabetes. The program consists of 16 core sessions over the course of the first six months, followed by less-intensive classes held monthly for the rest of the year-long program. The goal of the program is to cut one's risk of developing diabetes in half by losing 5-7% of their body weight through healthier eating and engaging in 150 minutes of physical activity each week. This program also includes shopping tours, cooking classes, exercise, on-site gardening, and stress management sessions.

(Fern Park) Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

(Food Pantry) The Honolulu Fil-Am Seventh Day Adventist Church provides a food pantry for persons who have low-income or have no income. For food pantry help outside of the normal pantry hours please call for an appointment.
