(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. The National Safe Haven Alliance (NSHA) is a national non-profit organization that promotes safe alternatives for parents in crisis pregnancy situations in every state. The 24 hour crisis help and text line provides support and direction for parents and providers regarding the Safe Haven law, including Safe Surrender locations, adoption resources and parenting support. The National Safe Haven Alliance also can provide direct resources to assist and prevent infant abandonment. The Crisis Hotline is staffed 24 Hours by social workers, nurses, and paramedics that have received comprehensive training and are able to support and assist parents and providers. The number is a helpline and text line.

North Shore Mental Health provides services to clients in adult behavioral and mental health. Programs include: Community Based Case Management, PAB, ADAD, and our Leahi medical respite program.

The purpose of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Volunteer at Hawaii State Hospital is to help the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital staff in its efforts to reduce spread of COVID-19 at the Hospital and in the community we serve. The volunteer will also help with efforts to inform staff, patients, family members of patients, and others in the Hospital's service community on how they can help reduce risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19. Volunteers will help by using, modeling, informing and educating staff and others at the Hospital in safe physical distancing ("social distancing" six feet or more), using electronic communications and internet-based group communications apps to hold meetings, practicing hand hygiene, and special infection control measures to prevent transmission of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Volunteer roles may include, as needed:

• Assist Hospital Administration sort, convey and communicate incoming CDC, DOH and other COVID-19 information
• Assist with written communication

LDAH provides mentoring, technical assistance and workshop training in special education to parents/families of children with disabilities or suspected disabilities. Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

Ka Lai Ola is a temporary housing development that is located in West Lahaina within walking distance of Lahaina Civic Center. It will house 1,500 wildfire survivors until 2029. Ka Lai Ola will contain approximately 450 modular residential units, including a combination of studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom homes for independent living with full kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas.

(EFNEP) Assists families with limited income to plan low-cost, simple, healthy meals. Families learn to shop wisely, stretch their food dollars and resources, and keep foods safe. Homemakers meet in groups with the Nutrition Program Assistant community sites. Meets weekly or bi-weekly (twice a month). Groups arranged by collaborating agencies.

(Na Pu'uwai) Culturally-grounded, community-focused clinical services and programs designed to assist with whole health.

Provides congregate meals program for persons aged 60 and over at several Senior Center sites around the island. Includes leisure and socialization activities, along with nutrition education sessions. Provides lunches to those persons who are homebound due to illness, and/or are unable to prepare meals.

(Teenlink Hawaii) TeenLink Hawaii (TLH) is a youth-focused program promoting positive youth development through peer leadership and support, access to relevant information and resources, and connection to a caring network. The TLH website serves as home base for the program and provides credible, evidence-based information regarding teen issues and interests. The vast spectrum of subjects and resources encourages a comprehensive literacy and empowers youth to make safe and well-informed decisions.

(Community-Based Mentoring Program) Case Managers at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii work with parents, guardians, therapists, counselors, schools, and youth serving organizations to identify and pair under-resourced youth from ages 6 years old and older with one-on-one mentors. Case Managers create an outcome development plan in collaboration with the parent/guardian, child and volunteer. Plans are updated yearly. Youth and their mentors meet 2-3 times per month for a few hours each outing. Outings are selected by the youth. Mentors pick-up their mentees and are responsible for transportation and other costs they incur. Some of the costs are offset by sponsored activities and discounts at partnering companies.
