(Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. Kokua Kalihi Valley (KKV) is a community organization with the mission for "healing and reconciliation in the Kalihi Valley community". KKV serves residents in Kalihi Valley a Medically Underserved Area and Health Personnel Shortage Area, as designated by the Public Health Service. The umbilical cord blood contains the same kind of special cells as bone marrow, and like bone marrow, has been used in transplants to cure patients with otherwise fatal diseases. It’s safe, it’s free, and it’s confidential. If uncollected, umbilical cord is discarded as medical waste. Hawaii Cord Blood Bank (HCBB) offers umbilical cord donation at all 5 birthing hospitals on Oahu (Kapiolani, Queens, Kaiser, Tripler and Adventist Health Castle).
