Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Temporary Assistance for Other Needy

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Fall Junior Lifeguards Program

Keiki ages 11 years old - 17 years old will learn ocean safety from City lifeguards at no cost. Children will learn rescue boards, rescue tubes, and near-shore search and rescue techniques from some of the City and County of Honolulu lifeguards. Keiki will also get an introduction to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid. Classes are free and will be held during the fall break from school: October 9-13, 2023. Each session will run from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Dates and locations are: -Monday, October 9, 2023 - Kualoa Beach Park -Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - “Sherwoods,” which is Hunananiho, or Waimanalo Bay Beach Park -Wednesday, October 11, 2023 - Pokai Bay Beach Park -Thursday, October 12, 2023 - Kaimana Beach -Friday, October 13, 2023 - Kailua Beach Park Enrollment is first come, first served basis. Each household receives one bag of groceries and one bag of fresh vegetables and/or frozen items. Households with 4 or more members receives two bags of groceries and two bags of fresh vegetables and/or frozen items. Clients need to register with the Food Pantry to qualify when they receive their food items for the first time. Food donations of canned fruits, meats, soup, beans, vegetables, cereal, and juice are welcome. Any food donations can be left in the food donation bin at the entrance of the church.

Emergency Food and Diaper Assistance Program

Through monthly cultural healing activities (hula, lei-making, ukulele, art therapy), peer support groups, and seizure first aid education, the E-Kokua Club provides a welcoming, stigma-free community where families can learn, connect, and thrive. In addition, EFH is the local manager of the National Epilepsy Helpline for Hawaii.
