Aloha United Way (AUW) raises and distributes voluntary funds based on high priority community needs to participating agencies. AUW does not provide financial aid to individuals. Agencies are national and local health and human service organizations.

Serves children, adolescents and their families who may suffer from a variety of severely emotional, behavioral or social adjustment problems. Provides evaluation, treatment planning, direct treatment and case management. Provides consultation to Department of Education personnel and private agencies.

Provides nutrition and support services for Native Hawaiians aged 60 and over. Serves lunch on scheduled site days. Offers friendly visiting, telephone reassurance and referrals to other community agencies. Provides limited transportation (call for further information) and home-delivered meals to eligible participants.

(Food Pantry) Aiea Seventh Day Adventist Church provides food boxes for families in need as well as clean used clothing as needed. We provide grooming supplies as well.

(Domestic Violence Advocacy) Families who are enrolled in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Temporary Assistance to Other Needy Families (more commonly known as “welfare”), are required to be engaged in activities that will ultimately lead them to self-sufficiency. Program recipients for whom issues of safety and domestic violence are interfering with their progress can call upon Domestic Violence Advocacy to help them find support to change their situations. Services include: assessment, service planning, counseling services, case management and linkage and referral. Provides client advocacy for women referred by Department of Human Services (DHS) in need of case management and support to leave domestic violent relationships. Six month time period given to provide victims the opportunity to gain focus and perspective of their personal goals and career choice.

(PSI Helpline) Provides a helpline for support and local referrals for postpartum mental health, along with online information and support groups to help families, providers, and communities learn about the emotional and mental health of childbearing families. Website helps locate specialized support coordinators. The helpline connects callers to crisis hotlines, support groups, and events in that area. Helpline runs 24/7, but is staffed only during business hours. Callers may leave confidential messages anytime and staff will return them as soon as possible.

Paepae o Heeia cares for, manages, and maintains the 800 year old, 88 acre Heeia Fishpond. Programs include educational programming, 1 hour tours, fishpond restoration, aquaculture activities and volunteer opportunities.

Represents State of Hawaii, its officials and employees in legal actions related to their state responsibilities. Accepts reports of "ice houses" or "drug houses" in neighborhoods.

Inspects plants and animals arriving and leaving Hawaii to prevent spread of undesirable pests and diseases. Enforces federal regulations governing the movement of agricultural items into the United States.

(Ola I Ka Hana Youth Program) Program for youth with low-income and at-risk youth who are in or out of school. Help with building skills to obtain a High School Equivalency or GED, exploring post-secondary education, and employment exploration.

(Kumukahi Health + Wellness, Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation) Provides STD Testing and Treatment,HIV and Hepatitis C Testing, Sexual Health Counseling, PrEP Navigation Services, Client Services for people living with HIV and their families. Assists with daily living needs, financial aid for housing, food and medicine. Offers individual counseling, nursing, and social service case management. Accessing all aspect of medical care including vision, dental and drug assistance. Qualifying for public and private aid programs for housing and financial assistance, home health services, essential transportation, etc, Counseling and referral services including mental health, harm reduction and return to work programs, disability claims and a fully stocked food pantry on-site.

Provides part-time volunteer work with stipend for low income senior citizens to work with special or exceptional needs persons at institutions, schools, day care centers, etc. Duties may involve reading, literacy activities, tutoring. Volunteers receive a stipend.

Provides healthcare and emotional support to individuals facing a life-ending illness. Enhances the quality of life for both the patient and their family, enabling them to live their remaining days in comfort and with dignity.

(Employees Retirement System - Liaison) Acts as liaison for Employee's Retirement System questions. Handles Health Fund assistance to State and County retirees. Acts as Employees' Retirement System counselor and liaison for all State or County employees and retirees.

Provides comprehensive services to persons in acute mental health crisis or who are suffering from a serious mental illness. Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment, counseling and psychotherapy, case management, outreach, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Operates 24 hour child abuse and neglect hotline. Receives all reports of child abuse or neglect. Provides case consultation and assessment. Provides crisis intervention on behalf of children in need of immediate protection.

Conducts all law enforcement. Receives all public service calls. Administers firearms registration. Handles abandoned vehicle reporting. Provides information regarding traffic services. Also provides information on the Neighborhood Watch Program.

Providing free training on child development, nutrition, health and safety issues. Providing information about resources available to providers, such as the USDA Child Care Food Program that assists in paying for meals served in daycare. Referring parents who are looking for child care to licensed child care providers. Maintaining connections with child care providers, professional child care associations, and other child care professionals as well as helping others build those relationships in the community.
