(KAC, Individual Opportunities) Kupu Aina Corps (KAC) is a workforce development initiative established through the State of Hawaii’s legislation for Green Jobs Youth Corps. This yearlong program employs individuals seeking experience in Hawaii’s environmental sector. Through Kupu’s extensive network of partner organizations across the state, these paid opportunities include positions in sustainability, agriculture, environmental technology and other green job fields.

Shelter of Wisdom rents homes which are shared by our men. Men live in double rooms with shared living areas and house chores. We provide intensive case management until our men are accepted into permanent housing. We provide household furnishings for their new homes, which are donated to us by the community. Men must maintain their sobriety, hygiene, medications, meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping and behavior.

Established by presidential directive to improve internal federal management practices and to provide a central focus for federal participation in civic affairs in major metropolitan centers of federal activity. We are an educational membership program providing noncredit, college-level offerings designed to serve older adults’ continuing social, developmental and intellectual needs. A $60 Term Membership in OLLI entitles an individual to enroll in up to three courses or workshops and attend free special events on a space-available basis during that term. We have three semesters a year, Fall, Spring and Summer. No requirements for membership other than a desire to learn.

Operates an adult day program for individuals with intellectual disabilities, education and vocational training programs for low-to-moderate income people including those with disabilities/special needs, and other support services. (Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). -One-time automobile down payment -Up to 4 months of automobile payments Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Kaiser Permanente is offering critical mental health and addiction services and resources. Members do not need a referral to access behavioral health care at Kaiser Permanente. Provides outpatient individual, family and group counseling, psychiatric care, and chemical dependency treatment services. Assists Mexican citizens who are visiting or living in Hawaii (medical problems, legal issues, etc.). Issues tourist permits. Provides information for potential visitors to Mexico.

Assists in the location and recovery of missing children. Connected to 49 mainland state clearinghouses as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Traces children and their abductors through connection with these databases and other public records as well as coordination with the efforts of the FBI and police departments of all states. Child Protective Services, Interpol, the U.S. Department of State and countries who are signatories to the Hague Convention. The police should always be notified first in the event that a parent suspects a child has been abducted. Accepts volunteers to assist with basic administrative assistance, special events and graphic designing.

(American Liver Foundation, American Liver Foundation, Pacific Coast and Hawaii Division) The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is a non-profit organization promoting liver health and disease prevention, including hepatitis. ALF advocates for liver patients and their families; funds research efforts directed toward the prevention, cure, and treatment of liver diseases; hosts free educational seminars for healthcare providers and the general public; provides support for liver patients through the new liver buddies mentoring program; and provides information on liver health and liver disease. Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

(Easter Seals Hawaii Home and Community-Based Services, Easter Seals Hawaii Honolulu Services Center Adult Day Health Program) Adult Day Health (ADH) focuses on providing a small group environment that fosters growth, and challenges the adult participant to increase independence in a variety of community settings. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities. ADH participants have a full-range of activities to choose from including: the option to go on daily excursions, enjoy art programs, volunteer in the community, attend computer classes with the aid of assistive technology, learn money skills, participate in weekly hula classes or give back to the community through recycling programs. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households.
