Legal Aid Society of Hawaii helps persons meeting Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines for homelessness get documents (State Identification (ID), birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, and/or Social Security Card). A homeless verification letter may be required to process waivers for the fees for a State of Hawaii ID.

(SNAP Outreach, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program Outreach, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach) The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. Hawaii Foodbank Kauai’s SNAP outreach program helps with completing SNAP applications.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (IIH, Intensive in Home) This program provides mental health services for children/adolescents who have serious emotional and behavioral disorders. Program staff work with the family to stabilize and preserve their capacity to improve the youth’s functioning in the current living environment and to prevent the need for placement outside the home. Intensive In-Home Mental Health Treatment Services for children, youth, and families who require a higher level of care than office-based services, but who do not require residential or hospital level care.

A Critical Access Hospital with 24 hours, 7 days a week Emergency Department and 5 bed Acute unit as well as distinct part 66 bed Long Term Care and 9 bed Adult Acute Psychiatric unit. Provides outpatient rehabilitation services including treatment for back pain, sports and on-the-job injuries, stroke, and neuropathies. Other outpatient services include radiology and Specialty Clinics. Offers four spacious treatment booths and a hydrotherapy room. Specializes in MyoFacial Release techniques and designing Work-Hardening programs. Occupational therapy provides consultation for ADL (Activities of Daily Living) training and adaptive aids.

Provides fire education and code enforcement. Issues special fireworks and public firework display permit. Also issues tent permits, portable extinguishers and systems permits, flammable finish permits, public assembly permits, and tank permits. Fireworks permits may be obtained from all Satellite City Halls for these holidays: New Year’s, Chinese New Year, and Independence Day (Fourth of July). For fireworks permits other than on the holidays listed, go to the Honolulu Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. Fireworks permits will not be issued at any fire station.
