Starfish Mentoring Program

Ho'ola Na Pua's Starfish Mentoring Program (SMP) provides mentoring with trauma-informed care and support that addresses the unique needs of survivors of sex trafficking and those at risk. Weekly meetings are activity-based and led by extensively trained mentors aged twenty-one or older. Mentors offer support and advocacy while serving as positive role models to program participants. Referrals to the program can be made through service providers, law enforcement or family members by calling or texting 808.222.1872. The Starfish Mentoring program does not adhere to strict hours of operation and can be available after hours as well. Program service are community based, so they happen through the island of O'ahu.

If you wish to assist a person who is homeless, who might be setting up "residence" in a public area or needing a health and safety intervention, the following actions should be taken: -Note the exact location and time when the person who is homeless is known to frequent the area. -Note any identifying information for the person who is homeless, e.g., physical description and number in the group. -Provide the above information to Kauai Economic Opportunity via email at [email protected] or call (808) 245.4077, x228. Email is the preferred means of communication. Also provide the name and email/phone number of the person providing the information for follow up if the person who is homeless cannot be found.

Ho‘ōla Nā Pua believes that every child should have a clear path to their bright future. To prevent a threat to that path, we provide educational presentations to students during school-time. Additionally we train the adults in their lives to intervene and respond, including teachers, parents, caregivers, custodians, and frontline workers. Services are available through free community webinars hosted twice a month on various topics relating to sex trafficking. Classroom awareness presentations are also available to grades 5-12

Pacific Birth Collective (PBC) is offering free weekly food boxes designed specifically for the perinatal period, with focus on providing nutrition and health support for mothers and their growing babies. This program is in conjunction with the Maui Food Bank and is free and accessible to everyone. The items in our food boxes are curated for children and women during their childbearing years. Please fill out this form to receive food distributions. The form will be open every week Saturday-Wednesday or until we have 50 recipients, then the form will close. Boxes need to be picked on Friday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Aloha Aina Center Suite 160 in Haiku. Delivery of boxes may be available upon request. Holiday 2025 application and pick up times will change. Call for more information.
