The Drivers Program provides a comprehensive evaluation to assess the ability to continue driving or return to driving. The evaluation process is meant to maintain safety for our clients and the community. For those who have sustained a new injury, illness or diagnosis, the Drivers Program assesses abilities to reintegrate into the community by maintaining or regaining driving independence. Additional components of the program include a behind-the-wheel assessment, adaptive equipment consultation and optional additional training sessions. We determine the readiness to drive with an on-site clinical evaluation that includes a comprehensive interview, as well as cognitive, vision and physical assessments with Driver Rehabilitation Specialists. A Behind-the-Wheel assessment is to be completed at the recommendation of the Driver Rehabilitation Specialist.

(ADAD) Plans, coordinates and implements statewide services relative to alcohol and drug abuse. Certifies substance abuse counselors and program administrators and accredits substance abuse programs. Agency does not provide direct services to the public but funds various private agencies.

Plans, develops, manages and improves mountain and shoreline trails and accesses throughout the state. Conserves environmental and cultural heritage. Installs signs denoting interpretive information and hazards. Develops cooperative agreements with private landowners to open trails over private land. Researches and identifies old government roads and traditionally used historic trails. Researches and records trail and access characteristics used by the public. Distributes maps of trails and public access locations.

(Da Box) DA BOX is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. The Food Basket purchases Hawaii Island grown produce from our local farmers and resells to customers island-wide, keeping produce affordable and increasing small farm viability. DA BOX was created to both support local farmers and to provide affordable access to fresh, Hawaii Island grown produce. Each week of produce consists of a minimum of seven items, generally one to two fruits and five to six vegetables. The program website also provides free access to recipes, a "food for thought" community blog, and a "meet the farmers" section to introduce the community to the local farms and farmers, as well as a weekly newsletter.

Accepts newspaper, magazines, white office paper, cardboard and tin cans for recycling. Pays for scrap metals such as aluminum, copper and brass.

Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation offers community outreach and pop up events. Services such as free pet food, harnesses, collars, bedding, towels, diapers for pets, etc. are offered when available.

Aloha United Way (AUW) raises and distributes voluntary funds based on high priority community needs to participating agencies. AUW does not provide financial aid to individuals. Agencies are national and local health and human service organizations.

Promotes the growth of commercial high technology in Hawaii. Provides assistance in business development, marketing and promotion of high technology companies doing business in Hawaii. Expedites the transfer of technology from research to full commercial production. Provides incubation services to early stage high technology companies in its Manoa Innovation Center (MIC) and Maui Research and Technology Center (MRTC).

Provides care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides education in women and child health, chronic diseases, etc. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation services to private schools, day care, and residential care homes. Does not provide assistance for dental care.

Registers motor vehicles.

Hawaii Telcom discounts are available on Basic Service and Go Local Plus. Discounted phone service limited to 1 telephone number at the primary place of residence of the qualifying person. A yearly re-certification application is required to be completed, signed, and mailed back before the re-certification deadline.

Experiential summer program, school credits recovery, case management and support for youth at risk or suspended from school.

Provides basic dental care for low income persons who are frail elderly or disabled who are Medicaid qualified (but not Medicare qualified).

Provides facilities, equipment and training to enable educational, government and non-profit agencies and Oahu cable subscribers to produce non-commercial programming for the cable access channels. Manages a Central Production Center in Mapunapuna and has established other satellite production centers. Public service announcements and programs produced outside of Olelo's facilities may also be submitted for cablecasting, provided they are sponsored by a local resident or organization. Maintains a video bulletin board, Island Info, announcing services, events and information for non-profit organizations.

(TANF, Emergency Assistance Program - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) The Emergency Assistance Program provides individuals with families who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless with emergency financial assistance. The program may provide one-time support for first month’s rent, past-due rent/mortgage and utility bills, and utility deposits for electric, water, and gas.

Serves environmentally at-risk families. Participants include prenatal women and families with children birth to three years old. The infants and children are considered at-risk for child abuse and neglect and developmental delays. The program provides comprehensive home visitation, child development screening and intervention, as well as psychosocial assessment, and motivational readiness for treatment and brief counseling. The intensity of the program varies over the course of service, starting with weekly home visits, and reducing the frequency as the family and child meet their goals.

(AMP 43) Operates public housing programs for low income families. Open for applications. ISG offers an array of support services and product sales (assistive technology) for people who are blind or experience low vision, are deaf or are hard of hearing, or have a speech disability. ISG is a local distributor for many key mainland manufacturers of high and low technology such as desktop and portable video magnifiers, screen reading computer programs, and many other low vision aids. ISG sells and services assistive listening and alerting devices such as FM listening systems and telephone/doorbell alerting systems. ISG conducts assessment with people with disabilities to evaluate their need for assistive technology that can aid in one's productivity for independent living or employment. ISG coordinates services from a fully accessible, model home in Honolulu where an array of technology is on display for people to "try before you buy". ISG hosts the Assistive Technology User Group meetings.

Vital records (birth, death, civil union, marriage, and divorce certificates) for events that occurred in Hawaii are received and preserved by the Office of Health Status Monitoring, a unit of the Department of Health.

(Hale Ho'omalu, Neighborhood Places of Kauai) In partnership with a community Ohana Board and other community agencies, provides family support and family preservation services to the families in defined areas of Kauai. Incorporating a community family center model, Hale Ho'omalu Neighborhood Place provides a healing and nurturing environment in which intervention services are interwoven with prevention activities. Services include information and referral, emergency food pantry, emergency clothes closet, parent skills classes, outreach activities to engage hard to reach families, individual and family counseling, and community activities, volunteer training, SNAP (Food Stamp) application assistance, and cultural awareness activities and more. Hale Ho'omalu is a family support center provided by Child and Family Service, serving Central to East Kauai.

Reporting missing persons.

Prevents and protects persons and property against crime. Enforces county ordinances and state laws. Investigates missing persons, juvenile offenses, criminal activity. Coordinates traffic safety. Registers and issues firearm permits. Administers and promotes community education and prevention programs such as DARE and Neighborhood Watch.

Provides a variety of engineering and architectural services aimed at helping departments and agencies acquire needed facilities and working spaces. Manages the planning, design, and construction of state facilities. Designated as the expending agency for capital-improvement projects, the division directs the expenditure of funds for projects approved by the State Legislature.
